First custom: Gargoyle & I hav a few ?s

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hello =]

I realize some of these questions may be common knowledge to customizers. I'm not even new here =p I just have difficult time reading & retaining info. I have to put extreme limits on my searching & reading or I get bad headaches; if not I'd search for all the answers myself. I'm one of those people who usually refuse to ask for help, but I know I wouldn't be doing everything I can in order to make my figure the best it can be if I don't ask for help.

I've been planning this figure for like 6 years & I can't wait any longer! Demona demands a better likeness than that sad sad one Kenner made; she's a dynamic character deserving articulation.

Does ML Blackheart torso need to be cracked to remove shoulder & thigh joints?

What dremel attachment do I use to cut away the dark areas marked on my jointed wings? (this is the first I've used a dremel)

After shaving down the limbs (with dremel barrel shaped sander) they are rough in texture. Will hand sanding with a finer grit paper make it smooth again? What grit # should I buy?

The torso I'm using is solid hard rubber & I don't yet know how I'm going to attach arms & legs & BH tail. Any suggestions?

I seem to hav misplaced her tail...

ẈĀŦƧĦĪƧ₣Ā₵Ė - Thanx =] After all the sanding my limbs are nice and smoooooth. Finished w/a 220 Aluminum Oxide Cloth found in the house & it worked great.

The torso does become pliable when heated. This is where I'd drill a hole then use the kinda round cutting attachment to make a hollow cave beyond the channel made withthe drill-bit, right. If I can get BH's tail attachment off his torso then I can sink that too!

Sanding barrel to shape wings; got it. Maybe I could heat an xacto to rough cut well away from my finish line, so it's not such a lengthy process. Hmm, but having an already rounded area to sand down seems like a boon.

I may use neoD magnet to attach wings since they aren't set very deep in the figure as is & fall off too easy.

I don't need to salvage BH torso, but cracking it without breaking it will be good practice for me. Esp if I resort to using my ML she hulk for this...

Yes it does need to be cracked,

I would suggest one of the barrel shaped sanding wheels then a little hand sanding to smooth it out,

Yes hand sanding will smooth that out, I suggest you buy with a variety of grits and start out with a low grit and work your way up to the finest to get a good finish,

does the torso become pliable when heated? If so you might be able to dremel new sockets for the new shoulders and hips and heat pop them in,
