So I bought headcasts from 3 different sites, but thet all have the same problem. The paint scratches off way to easily. I have scrubbed and scrubbed boiled and soaked in hot water with soap, but to no avail. Help?
"3. Prime the head. If you ever want paint to properly adhere to anything, primer is your best friend." That's the big one right there! If release WAS used, clean it with citrus (pummice) hand cleaner or another degreaser, THEN with soap and water.
1st question is did u prime it? 2nd question is did u use rubbing alcohol and scrub it with a toothbrush befor paint? (that works well for me) 3rd question what kind of paint are u using? 4th question what are u using to seal after u paint? (I use 2 to 3 coats of mod podge and wait for a day then I seal it again with krylon matte finish, I know it sounds like over kill but I want my customs to be well protected) lmk whats going on bud? hope this helps.

1. Sand the head with a very fine sandpaper like 360 or more for grit
2. Wash the head with soap and water to remove any mold release (yes, casters use mold release just like the factories)
3. Prime the head. If you ever want paint to properly adhere to anything, primer is your best friend.
4. Seal the figure or have some sort of varnish finish mixed in with your paints. Acrylics need sealer if they are going to stand the test of time.
You are using acrylics, right?
Good luck!
