Need Help Making a Limb Work

This isn't exactly a customizing question but I figure it's the best place to ask since you guys take apart figures all the time. What is the best way to make a joint work that won't budge? My problem is I got a Rocket Raccoon BAF and one of his arms won't bend at the elbow. I've applied a good amount of pressure trying to get it to but I'm afraid I'm gonna break it. Would the hot water trick work here or would it simply make it more bendy?

Unfortunately, sometimes joints on toys are just permanently stuck, no matter what you do. I've got a ML series 9 Bullseye figure whose left hip ball joint is absolutely immobile--nothing, not heat, cold, force, etc. has ever been able to make it budge, and trust me, I tried and tried. So, if you can't get it to work with the freezer trick and/or heat, it's probably a lost cause.

Well, I tried (left it in the freezer for over 1 1/2 hours) and didn't do the trick. I'm starting to see the white strain marks on the joint connecting the arm, too. Afraid if I try anymore I'll simply break it.
