Old heads

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hello Fellow Customizers, I have a question for you. I am attempting to make a custom using the head of an older figure from the late 80s. I was able to pop it off but then had to trim the neck to make it fit a current DC Classics/Marvel Legends neck peg. My question is what is the best way to secure it to the peg and still retain some articulation? I have seen some of you use the original TMNT and He-Man heads for current customs and wondered just how you do it and what needs to be done to the head since most of the figures from that time have hollow soft rubber heads? Thanks in advance for the help!

Would you mind posting pictures to help illustrate your process? I've been curious about this as well. Thanks!

Yeah, I'll put a tutorial together of it this weekend.

I like to fill the head with hot glue, then I simply drill a whole into the hot glue and heat pop it onto the neck peg. Instead of heat popping it you can also cover the peg in vasoline and press the hot glue'd head over the neck peg, then once the glue cools you have a joint that's a perfect fit.
