The best defense against getting fooled by bootlegs is knowledge. Research the figure you're interested in purchasing to see when it was produced, by what company, etc. And, if possible, compare the sample with photos of the same figure to see if there are discrepancies in sculpt, paint, articulation, accessories, packaging, etc. That way, when you're looking at one in person, you can make an informed decision about the authenticity of the piece.

Also keep in mind that, crazy as it may seem, sometimes bootlegs/knockoffs/fakes can actually be colectible too, depending on what they are.

Comparing the picture you posted to MOC samples on Google images, it looks like the real thing to me, although it's hard to say for sure without inspecting it in person.

I remember when I first saw MOTUC figures in Big Lots for a mere $10, I thought for sure that they had to be bootlegs, but those turned out to be legit. Like Pock63 said, sometimes you just find unbelievably good deals.

I've seen a lot of fake Neca figures but when there so good that you can't tell if there real or not I figure it doesn't matter that much. You might just be getting a killer deal.
