A Question on Primers

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hey everyone, first timer here looking to jump into the world of customization. However, before I start I have a question on appropriate primers to use and my google-fu seems to be failing me.

I have pretty much confirmed that enamel paints are a no-go because it will stay tacky, however every plastic primer I seem to find in my local paint and hardware stores all specify that they are enamel based (or simply don't specify at all). I've even asked specifically for acrylic based at my local paint specialist store and they said they don't stock it. I hear a lot of praise for Krylon Fusion and Plastikote but I live in Australia and unfortunately I can't get that here.

So I guess my question is, is enamel plastic primer appropriate to use. If not are there any alternatives or if there are any fellow Aussies here do they know where I can find them?

Thanks

Thank you! Just found out the local auto store stocks it. I'll grab a can on my way home from work tomorrow and give it a try. Once again thanks!

Dupli-color for vinyl and fabric. The SINGLE BEST primer for what we do. (no matter what anybody else says.)
