Help with painting chrome finish on action figure.

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hey everybody. First and foremost, I'm new to the forum and I'm very interested in doing customs over the course of time. I wanted to start off by doing restorations on some old figures. I'm having trouble finding the correct way to apply a chrome finish to an old ninja turtle action figure I have where it used to have a chrome mirror like finish on a few of the pieces but has rubbed off over time and is now exposing a majority of the piece under it. Any suggestions? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What Pock said. Don't go with the tape, over time the sticky side of the tape will weaken giving you a goo of a mess.

Fastfreddie has had some amazing results spraying chrome spraypaint over gloss black using many thing layers of chrome. I haven't had a chance to try it myself but it sure seems to work wonders for him!

Maybe try reflective tape and cut it to the right shape? If you can find a metallic one, that is. Fluorescent safety tape obviously won't work lol. If you can't find any, maybe try mixing metallic paints with transparent and/or gloss, it might get a decent effect. Not sure tho, that's just a theory for what I'd try next =P
