I'm in the process of making a storage stand for import figure accessories. I have the piece prepared and am capable of making a mold around it but until I find the right material for the stand I can't continue with the project. Portions of the stand are very thin and will likely snap easily so the copies must be tough and hard to crack when they are cured. What material can I use in the mold to achieve this? Would clear resin work?
I'd avoid clear resin, it tends to be much more brittle than other resins. Honestly your best coarse of action might be to contact a service rep at Smooth On and tell them the properties you are looking for, I've had very good experiences working with them to get the right resin.
