question on painting

How do you keep the paint on figures like the companies do? everytime I paint..or prime em then paint etc..ya move the arms and it just chips off in schloads. even handling them cause it to heat up or smudge and such? is there some secret I don't know?

Yep, I recently posted a new tutorial for eliminating paintrub in places like elbows and knees.

You can't just use paint and expect it to stay forever, toy factories use a toxic paint that bonds chemically to the figure, thats why it doesn't come off easy. We have to find workarounds unfortunately.

What paint are you using? Are you sealing them after the paint dries?

For the paint chipping off, sounds like you are not properly prepping the joints. There is a few tutorials on the main site here that can show you how to properly prep a figure for paint.
