Indie Spotlight by Shocker Toys

Character list for wave 1:
The Maxx
Scud The Disposable Assassin
Scud SOL variant
Shadowhawk
Shadowhawk variant
Kabuki
Katchoo

I'm getting really excited about these toys coming out. There's been some pretty good coverage for them at Toy Fair 2009. Lots of great pictures out there on the web.

As many of you may know the prototypes were painted by the one and only KYLE ROBINSON!

Some of us fans of this series have put together a Fan Webesite for these figures. Indie Spotlight News. Drop by and check it out: http://www.indiespotlightnews.com/

There's lots of pictures there of the Final Product. And lots and lots of pictures of all of the stuff that they had at Toy Fair.

Please drop by and post your thoughts. And if you do come by and post comments, please try to be nice with your feedback. I don't expect everyone to Love every figure. But we can all give polite, constructive feedback, whether you like the figures or not.
Treat it like you're talking to a fellow customizer about their artwork.

I haven't seen them at any chain stores in my area. You probably have to order them through your local comic shop.

lcbs, used to be at bbts, or the shocker toys site, which was linked a few posts ago by shocker toys, but here it is again.

There's something about the detailing on these that just doesn't look right to me. I'll probably buy a few anyway...if I could ever find them.

actually, they are well-scaled, just a little more realistic. they tend to be a bit thinner and less muscular, but height is almost dead on. I personally like the slight difference.

proof:

the line isn't perfect (hips and waist are odd), but it doesn't really deserve the raw deal many give it. I do agree price should be lower, but if more people buy it, it becomes possible for them to sell for less. low volume forces higher prices.

and kabuki is a great scale for a female figure. he is about half a head shorter than the black spidey in the picture.
It may just be my personal hatred for the figure quality and the company in general that will prevent me from spending much on this line

I like the Maxx but will never buy a thing from Shocker Toys. I put in a pre-order for the GWAR figures many years ago. I waited and waited on these figures, being told there were coming soon. Years past, and still coming soon. So I contacted them to get a refund of my pre-order because I figured they were never coming out, I got no response. It took a little over a year after that to finally get in contact with somebody. I put in my pre-order over six years ago, I just got my refund a few months ago, for figure that they say are still coming soon.
Shocker Toys is garbage and out of all the companies in the world that might go under in this economic climate, I hope they are one of them.

well they are actually undersized mainly kabuki this company cut way too many corners to save money if you ask me and they arent really worth more than ML and DCUCs but thats just my opinion ..... I don't like paying more for lower quality ,but the maxx should be like the only one really on scale

Mr. Gone is on the way soon. You know we do have some leftover Vending Machines from our 7" Scud statues we should offer them with a Scud/Sol 2 pack but our SOL stock is very limited.

Saturday, December 5, 2009
I have been intending to get a few more scuds to do variants (battle damage, customs colors, etc.). using other materials, I do have plans to make the scud vending machine.

for is2, definetly plan on getting multiple tracys for customs, and I will end up making some of his rogue gallery.

when I have the tick and arthur you can expect many, many tick characters (proto-clown, diefladermaus, american maid, el seed, big shot, idea men, multiple santa, etc etc etc...)

so is there any news on mr. gone?

Wow, this latest wave looks way better than the last ones. I wasn't impressed with the Shadowhawk/Maxx line. But I still wouldn't buy these. There are far too many DC, Marvel, WWE, & Star Trek ones I want and too little money.

Yeah $14 each really isn't too bad. At Amazon's Store on Amazon.com they're actually $13.99 to be exact (with Maxx costing $15.99). They give free shipping on orders over $25. So if you order at least 2 figures there the shipping will be free. That's the cheapest deal that I've found so far. Cheapest individual prices, as well as cheapest price for the whole set. Just under $100 for all 7 figures. Then you get the free mail away figure of Mr. Gone. So realistically, it's $100 for 8 figures.

Amazon's Store is sold out right now. But they're supposed to be restocked around June, when Shocker Toys gets their next shipment of IS1.

well they are only like 15 right if so thats not too bad at all

They are going to be available at Toys R Us stores soon.

If you're concerned about the cost then really look into Amazon's pre-order. If you buy 2 figures or more from the Amazon Store, the shipping is free. Amazon should be getting re-stocked very soon. That's about the cheapest deal you can get for them right now. I imagine they'll cost at least that much at TRU when they show up there.

I was waiting to get my new ShadowHawk for these pictures. As you can see they're quite comparable with Marvel Legends. ToyBiz figures have always been a bit bigger than Hasbro's stuff. But I think they all look good together.

no I don't. But I'll see what I do get with in the next few days. Comparing IS wave 1 to Marvel Legends in terms of scale is kind of a difficult thing with the characters from this first wave.

-IS wave 1 has Two girls in it. Girls are typically smaller than most male characters in Marvel Legends anyway. The girls from IS are pretty short. At least Kabuki is. But she still fits in great.

-Then you have 2 costumes for ShadowHawk. The figure is as tall as a lot of Marvel Legend figures, but he's skinnier. But he's supposed to be, because he's a kid. This version of ShadowHawk is a High School Teenage kid. So the figure should be fairly smaller in comparison.

-Then of course you have the Maxx, which is a freakishly huge guy. He's bigger than any Marvel Legend Hulk figure.

-You've got 2 robots, Scud and SOL. Which are smaller than most Marvel Legends.

This is what leads me to think that the entire Indie Spotlight series may be a tad smaller than most Marvel Legends. Which isn't a problem for me. They still fit in together. They still look great next to each other. It's really no different than say... putting a bunch of Hasbro's Marvel Legends next to ToyBiz Marvel Legends. IS wave 1 is pretty comparable to Hasbro's MLs.

Now your typical DCUC figure is all around Thick. So those even make Marvel Legends look tiny. So yeah, IS is going to look about the same way compared to DCUC.

I'm holding off until IS wave 2 to get a real idea about size comparison against Marvel Legends. Even if they do turn out smaller on average, it's not that big of a deal. They're close enough, they're still 6" scale regardless. To top it off we must realize that they're Not Marvel Legends. They're their own toy line. I'm just happy that they even blend in with other toy lines.

Let me see what I can get for other pictures. Here's a shot of some of some ML girls with Kabuki.

Man, I haven't come by here in a while.

yamivash, I don't know where ya saw 2 left feet on a Shadowhawk. I'm not saying it didn't happen or anything, but my Shadowhawk's feet are fine. I imagine that these things do happen from time to time. Though it can't possibly be any worse than the Quality Control of DCUC. I'm sure most of the IS figures are fine.

As far as Kabuki's boobs being uneven, mine seem fine as well. Ya hear that? Kabuki's boobs are "Fine" -giggity

I currently have 4 different figures from IS1, and another on the way. Overall I'm completely happy with these figures. Already I can't wait for the 2nd wave.

I'm heading to bed for now, but maybe tomorrow I'll drop by and show some of my pictures for those who haven't seen them yet on the other sites.

also I just found out from another review claiming shadowhawk has to left feet .are all the reviews/watched I read on these under crediting the quality of your work or whats the deal with this ,and are there plans to fix(or offer compensation for ) the issues if it happens you get a shadow hawk with 2 left feet or are we stuck with it .

which brings up another question wouldn't it seem more fiit you put the sivel at the waist instead of the middle of the chest on shadow hawk and articulate the torso more like DCUC did so the lines on his stomach will always match up instead of him looking sill with broken silver lines. sorry if it seems like Im complaining Im just an curios customer who wanted to make sure he was getting his moneys worth especially seeing the price runs hire than MLs or DCUCs .

I'm gonna hit up my comic shop and see if they can get ahold of a Scud and Shadowhawk.

We do not make the Pitt but we do make The Maxx who fought the Pitt in a few issues. As far as the others we took a different approach with a bit of different styles in the first series. Second series has pulp, new and classic characters. Also a lot of people bought the exclusive Scuds some pics are on our forums some on the Indie Spotlight news site and Flikr.

Problem is I've never heard of half the characters lol. I remember Pitt from the odd cartoon on MTV and I've met the guy who created Kabuki a few times but other than that they're a mystery to me. I might have to get her and the blonde chick.

This is the real deal and the first phase of IS1. We threw some pics of the shipment in our warehouse up on the website http://www.shockertoys.com

I have to say it feels good to have IS figures here in the states.
