I was thinking how maybe some toy stores (big corporate ones included) should let people ask to have a toy pull list. like at comics stores, the retailers could just put aside whatever toys you ask for, and keep them until you show up to buy them. it would make people stop having to always worry about greedy scalpers, and I'm sure people like them wouldn't mind it either.
Another thing that would make layaways hard is that the stores don't know what there getting with some toy runs like DC Universe. Mettel packeges them randomly to prevent schalpers from ordering all of the goold ones before the set is even out.
ps I was told this by a Mettel worker when I called them trying to get a figure replaced.
You guys should read some of the crazy stories about "Scalpers" and such and "Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts".
Never heard of a Hot Wheels Treasure Hunt? That's because the rarely make it to the store shelves nowadays, lol.
although I agree this would be a GREAT idea! I have to say that Walmart is actually making more money now that the lay a way is gine, believe it or not. my lady works for walmart, with the gigt cards and site to store sales, there not missing layaway at all. it does suck though, I used it all the time!!
what about all the people who order stuff then don't show up my local comic shop gets that a lot .And dude this is a good idea but major retailers won't do it it seems they hate us collectors
but wouldn't the retailers just happily order a whole wave, sell it to the person who requested it, then order all the other people's stuff? I mean, it would be good for the store, cause they're selling everything they're ordering. that's how it works at my comic shop.
what if they were like 2 booster golds and 2 variant booster golds and the person is buying them 1 each for their twin children's birthday who like booster gold from the JLU cartoon any measures to stop scalpers would screw other people over too .
exactly Thats what I was saying and even if they limit what you could get the scalpers would be at the stores bright and early requesting chase figures before anyone else got to the store .
because the scalpers would just go in and request entire waves. A store could stop that by limiting what you could get at one time in the way of multiples.
I guess you're right sephiroth... they big guns could care less... so yeah, if comic store would just pay a little more attention to toys, and do layaways for them, they'd get some serious business.
Dude this would just make scalping easier Im good friend with one of the cheapest-scalpers in the world they will get up when the store opens (they are crazy) and just ask them to pull like 6 of the whole wave
for comic stores it wouldn't be bad and the one I used to go to actually did that (on the occassion he had toys in but he'd go out of his way to get them in for you). The big chains just don't give a crap. Walmart can't even get the inventory in let alone keep track of it, they couldn't even keep track of layaways. I think stores need layaway again, walmart lost a ton of money when they got rid of it from people who didn't have the money right away so now Kmart's making up for it with a boost in business.
