Resident Evil?

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

Okay, I have a question about the games AND the figures.

1. Do I need to play the first game in the series before the rest, or does it matter? Is there a plot that runs through the whole thing, that if I played a later game before the first, it would spoil the games that came before it? Or does it matter what order I play them in? Are the games even worth my time? They certainly look fun!

2. Are the Palisades and NECA Resident Evil figures in scale with each other? The Palisades ones look better, but NECA has figures of characters that Palisades never made, so I would like to display them all side-by-side. Possible?

Thanks,
EJ

the neca fis are a little taller. but they look good side by side.

I don't think that you have to play all the games to get cought up. you can pick up RE5 and still have lots of fun playing it. the older games are fun. the game cube had the best!

Yes, Code Veronica is canon.

I know what you mean about Leon, though. I'm glad they left him out of the live action movies, personally. He just would have been upstaged by the mighty Alice...

psychotic cross dressers tend to be creepy lol. Though the arctic area was a real pain in the butt.

Oh yeah! I forgot all about Resident Evil: Code Veronica. That was like Resident Evil 3.5, it was tied in with Umbrella Corp. and the 1st 3 titles. Another great game. That blonde guy was just creepy, in a strange way not a scary way.

Thanks guys! You've been a great help! I just remembered that you can play PS1 games on PS2, so now I don't have to wait for the Wii version!

I think 2 is still my favorite. Veronica was okay.

My answer for #1: No. You don't need to play #1 first. 1-3 are all related in story (Umbrella Corporation behind monsters), but you don't have to play one before the others. 4 & 5 are related to each other (A secret cult behind different monsters), but again you don't have to play one before the other. Resident Evil 1 was fun when it came out, but compared to the rest of the games it's not that good. The other games blow it out of the water. My favorites were #2 and #4, both were very different though.

I hate hate HATED the RE live action movies. I despite the character Alice with all my heart. Not only did she have nothing at all to do with the video games, but her character -constantly- overshadows every other character in the movies. Jill Valentine got to be in the second movie, but oh no, they couldn't have her doing something cool. Alice had to jump in out of nowhere all billy badass and upstage Jill.

I guess it helps that the actress was sleeping with the director.

It was too short though lol. Have you noticed how much the live action RE movies seem to have an effect on the games? I know when they remade RE1 for the gamecube they used a lot of stuff from the movies like how the dogs looked and such.

Don't forget Code Veronica for some more background on Umbrella's founders.

...and if you're a Claire fan like myself.

Incidentally, the new movie was awesome.

your answer for the 1st question

0(gives info on 1), 2 and 4(4 gives knowlege for 5, which are found in bonus stuff) you don't have to know the story, 3 abit of knowlege from 2 (playing 3 before 2 will spoil it abit, reveal fate of 2)and 1 might help(but not nessasary), for 5 basic knowlege of jill and chris is sorta needed from 1 and umbrella chronicles also not needed though but would help. overall the only continuous plot going on is that of wesker's plot which is concluded in 5

I've noticed that every even numbered game is based on leon and every odd is about jill or chris

hope this helps

if they put them all on one system it would be neat but the Wii certainly seems like an odd choice. I'm not sure about the creatures though as I only have claire and zombies.

I'm not really interested in the people figures. Do you think the creatures would be in scale with each other?

Also, I heard the were remaking all of the games for Wii. A remake of the original is set to be out this year.

The palisades are about 5" tall and I'm guess Neca is probably 6". it helps to play through the games in order but sadly half the storyline is lost if you don't have the games on every system so you might need to go to a wiki to get some of the story.
