ok, so I just got a package in the mail from a trade I did. I got a MOC marvel legends series 5 nick fury. now, remember how MLs used to be kind of oily and smelly when you first pried them out of their shells? well now they're sticky. like, slimy, nasty, leaves a residue on my fingers sticky. yeah... but hey, what can you expect? this mother's been a a box since 2004. so I guess this is just like, what happens chemically to the lubricant they put on the pieces to pop them out of the molds right?

anyway, thought I should just warn you guys. not that this will happen to every ML you open, since some had less lube on than others, but I just wanted to let you guys know.

I'm addicted to bubble wrap, I'll sit there and pop the stuff for hours. BBTS ships in bubble wrap with bubles the size of quarters lol.

oh yeah, and bubble wrap (I think) has a smell I like. it could be something else that's commonly used for packaging stuff though, but I think it's the bubble wrap that smells.

yeah new car smell can get overwhelming and its supposedly really toxic (what isn't anymore). What strikes me is odd is when you get a figure trade and is smells like something its been sittin gnear. Yami said the metroplex I sent smelled like tacos (maybe I had it on my hands lol). I had one trade from another board come in smelling like vanilla.

I always get sick from the "new car smell". Have a thing for freshly opened DCD figures. Just something...familiar about it. And burnt matchs. I like burnt matchs.

Lead paint is BS. I remember the movie masters scare. I'd stick a straw in those air holes and snort an MM joker like a mutha

I can't say much. I used to spraypaint in my apartment with the windows shut when doing art projects lol. Every now and then you get the plastic smell from FF7 figures but mcfarland does it all the time.

Hey, fumes smell good at a certain point, until they get on your hands and then they smell for the whole day and I get a headache.

Sadly I don't think its going to be a problem as it seems ML figures are now those tiny Marvel universe figures.

Yeah you don't get that smell unless you're at a comic shop. The shop around here always smelled like that. Its like the smell you get when you go into a used book store or library filled with older books.

shame this is a family friendly site or the jokes could be fun. Mcfarland always has the great plastic smell when you open them, my old ghost buster figures did too. I think its the kind of plastic they use, its like new car smell but for toys lol.

That's one reason I prefer older action figures, you really didn't have that problem. There was some smell, but no gooeyness.
