Let's start the war: ML versus MU

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

So many people on other forums are anti ML now. They're giving up their MLs saying they prefer the 4 inch scale. They're easier to collect. The scale is cool...blah blah blah. Utter Bullshit. ML is ten times the line MU can ever be. Are people copping out just because they don't wanna pay a few bucks?

I have not and will not pick up one single mu figure.

I said when these 1st came out - I want detail . smaller figures = less detail

I will keep waiting for marvel legends scale figures to come out and will keep picking up the marvel select figures in the meantime.

One thing is for sure, I am saving lots of money

I prefer the Marvel Legends cuz its just the normal scale for Marvel figures...3.75 scale figures just seem wrong (even Secret Wars figures were larger)...It would be the same as if they made 6 in Star Wars or G.I. Joe figures and canceled the scale we all know and love...Besides, some of the characters are super ugly I.e. Punisher, Hulk,  and Daredevil...I also find it rather discouraging that they are already recycling as much as they are so early into the line I.e. Ronin/Hand Ninja...The only positive thing I can think for the new scale is vehicles and playsets but even then it isn't like the Star Wars or Joe lines which have a vast array of posibilities...

I HATE Hasbro - not seen any of the MU figs here in the UK yet but TRU are charging exactly the same price for the similarly scaled Wolverine Origins figures as they did ML figures. Now ML were twice the size and often came with a display base or BAF part so somewhere along the line Hasbro and/or TRU have managed to lower production costs/increase shelf space and somehow roll with the same profits at the expense of a loyal Marvel fanbase. And as I keep saying if I buy a toy that small I expect to get a burger and fries with it!

I perfer the ML or MS figures (they've come out with so many... it'd be a waste to get rid of the line)

Well I guess I would prefer that the Marvel Legends line would continue. But I do like the smaller scale figures as well. I don't collect them all, but it is nice that I can add some of the MU figures to my defunct Toybiz MLS series figures. It is also nice to have more selection of fodder in this scale, I have only done one custom in this scale (MLS Sabretooth) and it certainly was a challenge working on such a small scale! Truth be told, I will buy just about any figure that is well-sculpted, well-painted, and well-artuculated. I haven't been happy with Hasbro's performance with Marvel Legends, but they seem to have a tad bit nicer quality with these MU figures.

I don't care either way.

I'm happy to buy MU or ML or both.

I don't care about size. Since it's MU on the pegs in my locale store I'll bu MU. If the stores go back to ML I'll get those. If stores get both I'll buy whatever takes my fancy from both scales.

I guess I'm not to fussed about Marvel toys as Marvel toys bassed toys make up less than 5% of my collection.

So In summary I will but what I think is cool regardless of scale

The ML are the only ones I care about. Such great figures and fun to collect and work with.

Hopefully we can get a few more cosmic characters from them though.

I hate the fact that the MU figures cost just as much or close to the price of the ML figures. Plus my eyes aren't good enough to customize something as small as a MU figure easily.

I just feel like the sculpts and articulation and paint are so much more advanced on the legends. These are high quality figures in comparison. The MU can suck it. They're ok for little gimmicky figures but they arent real comic book based collectibles. When I bought ML I felt like I was getting something almost high end. The people on the other sites are saying the new scale is "more fun"

I agree. The 4 inch scale figures are too small to be as detailed as I like them to be. And the 12 inch figures are really cool, but you can't collect a lot of them without having a lot of space to dedicate to figures (I already have the majority of my space dedicated to comics).

So far I have 4 MU... I'm nonplussed by how some of the figures look. Others I picked up because they had the right balance of sculpt and articulation to win me ove rfor a purchase. But I WILL NOT pay more than retail for them. I don't give a ratass how rare the ones I want get, I'm not gonna over pay for a tiny figure.

ML. Easy win for me.

MU is ok. I buy somewhere between 1/2 of the figures to 3/4 of them that get released. But if there were 6" Legends to buy I probably wouldn't bother getting any of the MU figures. I have a pretty strong feeling this is why ML has been on hiatus during the release of MU. That way both Hasbro and Collectors will focus on MU only.
