PLEASE HELP!

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

I got my DCUC flash in the mail today. it was a great buy. $20.75 for MOC priority shipping. BUT... when I opened it I realized it has the same problem my first DCUC green lantern and black lightning had. it's where the peg on the left leg's connection to the hip is like, glued in it's socket. the scary part is that the peg is almost ready to twist off... AHHHHH!!!

please help me find a way to fix this problem some how... I would really love a flash that could actually move its motherf***ing LEGS!!!!

For futre reference if this happens again I sugest taking a exacto blade and carfuly runing it around the peg but be carfull not to cut the peg. The reason this problem happens is because paint seeps down into the craks and dries like glue. I broke my Green Lantern before I came up with this method.

nope, not dead... just been busy as hell.

glad it worked. yami PM'd that he had the same issue with a different figure and was able to rectify it with the freezer trick too.

Buzzy Fret - Miracle Worker. has a nice ring to it.

I had just tried the freezer trick right before I got back and read this... it seems hopeless. the peg won't budge. but I wanna try it another time before I give up. and yeah my luck with this line is unfortunate.

it's so great to hear from you though buzzy!!! I'd thought you died or something, GOD... so I'll pm you if it doesn't work out. thanks for the advice though man!

I'll tell you how I fix mine. Use a dremel, drill a hole in the crotch (not too deep in), get something to open that part, take out the left leg, a few drop of super glue around that peg to harden it, use super glue to glue the parts together again, cover the hole with apoxie scult and then paint it to match the color.

maybe you shouldn't buy anymore DCUC figures Chance. I've never seen anyone have so much bad luck with them.

you gotta be very careful with this. if the hip connector peg tears, you're done. you can't repair that short of replacing the leg. if it's already tearing you might as well give up on it and toss him in the fodder bin.

if it's not actually tearing, try putting him in the freezer for about an hour. then take him out gently try to move the leg increasing pressure as needed. if the freezing did the trick it should crack and move normally. if it feels like it's still sticky or mushy stop moving it. at that point you might have to crack his crotch open to figure it out.

I just had to do the freezer trick yesterday with a Black Manta. also did it in the past to an Atom, Black Lightning and Batman Beyond. tried it on Lightray and his hip peg snapped because, I think, it was accidently glued in.

if you end up accidently amputating Flash's leg; PM me so we can get you hooked up with another at considerably less than $21.
