Posted in Trading Post

After the happenings on this site over the past few days I thought that this post needed to be made.

Make sure to post something in their trade thread if they have one to let other people know.
I like the idea about making a list of addresses. If not city and state then just number and street, it is really specific without even knowing where they are.The list would rely on users updating it and being honest though.
There has to be a way to let everyone else know about it somehow

If you have their addi hit them with mail fraud charges, might not work on international stuff but inside the US you can do it.

Yep what Bob said, we are not involved in trades, and you trade at your own risk. There are plenty of traders on here who are honest and have tons of feedback. Like I said before if you're unsure about a trade, check the feedback list and if they have no or lesser feedback than you, get them to send first it's the only way to ensure you don't get scammed.

Isn't there a way to ban the IP address? or is that not effective?

Their is a slight problem with that idea. That makes the mods and/or the site involved with the trade, at least in a limited way. I don't think Cap would be down for that at all. I have got taken for a few figures so I understand people not wanting to get "screwed" but all who trade have to accept the risk. If the item is mailed, you can file charges with the UPS, as it is mail fraud.

I like that idea. Im not in charge of this site or anything but I like that idea. It sounds promiseing. My only concern is what if the person has the same city, state as another trader.

Well they could just list the full address, but I don't know if that would be some kind of privacy violation. Or just make sure the mods have the full address, and if you get someone from the same city just check with the mods to confirm if it's the same address as the bad trader.

If I understand this correctly, if someone is banned for bad trading they can just come back with a new screen name and scam people again. That makes a bad trader list not very effective, but what if we had a banned address list? Not the full address, just enough to cross check before you send something out. Perhaps just city and state would suffice.

Banning them is a good stop but that doesn't really do anything to the person who already got screwed.

I've always been for giving them the boot. Then again I always thought most offenses should be handled that way the first time without warnings.

Was there a scammer that got busted? I've got some open trades, so it'd be cool to know who the scammer is.

Details please.

There will always be variables.
But, If the intent was malicious in anyway I see no reason for leniency.

Maybe temp ban from the site first offense and perma-ban for the second.

I know that might seem too lax, but you can't always prove that someone was actively trying to scam you, things do get lost in the mail or get delivered to the wrong house. The mail people around here deliver letters to my house by mistake several times a year; I'd hope they would be more careful with packages or the person who got it would be honest enough not to keep it, but that kinda stuff does happen.
