Anyone else seeing this economic downturn as a double edge sword for collectors?
In the past 6 weeks I've scored well over two dozen figures I couldn't even get in trades, a few of them even grails that commanded upwards of 50-60 bucks, and all for sometimes pennies on the dollar. I'm hard pressed to score a Star Wars figure for more than 5 or 6 with shipping. MLs will run me about 6 bucks now with shipping, and DCSH/DCUC/DC Direct are all under 10 carded or loose.
I feel bad for everyone affected by the economy and I'm really thankful for my job and its stability, but a year ago I never thought I'd be nabbing up rares, vintage figures, and perfect loose ML/DCUC figures for these prices.
I like Blight's idea to use the Free SH option on lightweight items. I mean its money they can put directly towards the figure(s). I need to throw some stuff up now.
You can PM him the links lol. I'm gonna start hitting ebay up for TFs and stuff. I'm trying to buy from an unemployed buddy of mine but dang if he refuses my money and tries to give me stuff x.x I mean I appreciate it but he needs the cash. Yeah the economy is a bad thing for people but potentially good for collectors. I have NEVER met anyone using the free shipping option.
nope. ALWAYS use free shipping. especially with buy it nows and items less than twenty bucks. The only time I won't use it is when it'll be something ridiculously heavy.
On the flip side you can make a small fortune on ebay if you know how to advertise. While I can't sell junk parts or the sort of stuff I sell in the forum on ebay, I make a killing on marvel legends. It helps having a lot of extra singles.
The hell I'm gonna puke up these Onion rings... 1.79 is nothing to scoff at.
