how long would a gi joe last underground?

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

so I was talking to my dad about how much vintage gi joes are worth now and he told me when he was a kid he buried like 40 of his gi joes
now this would have been like 30 to 40 years ago
would they still be there would it be worth digging up my grandmas backyard for

well she has one big tree thats low to the ground and they had some chain link fencing and a grape orchard which when not in season is just a big open space with lots of vines around it

any of those places would be a great place to play with some joes

lol. I hope she doesn't have a lot of land. Best places to look would be areas that would have been fun to play with the figures.

Some good news. According the wiki on these Joes they're held together with metal rivets so a metal detector may be able to pick them up.

Are they the big G.I. Joes or the litle ones?

I'm betting those things have at least metal dogtags if not metal internal parts.

Did he barry them in plastic box of some kind? If he did you can just buy a pitch fork and poke litle holes down till you hit something.

you should take pics of the joes half dug up and have an ironman, namor, thor wasp and gaintman standing around the hole

Well, having learned general combat and survival skills, a Joe could go undercover and stay there indefinitely, especially if they took a page from Zartan's playbook and wore a disguise. It would help to already have a cache of weapons and supplies stashed away and....

...Oh, you mean underground literally...

Ask you dad if they had metal parts, you may be able to find them with a metal detector.

if thats the case then customize them to be zombies . since they won't be worth much if they are like that.

Hard to tell. I'd say do and see. The clothes and hair would probably be bad but the plastic should have survived unless they froze a lot.
