San Diego Comic Con

Posted in Off Topic

I have tentative plans to go to the San Diego Comic Con this July - has anyone else here been before or might be going this year?

I've got an old friend that lives in San Diego and he and his wife started going to the Con a few years ago and he's invited me out to stay with them. I'm psyched up!

Is there a Figure Realm Booth?! Is Jin doing a seminar?! I don't see Marvel Toys aka ToyBiz listed as an exhibitor but Hasbro is.

Stop that! Stop that! This started off as a nice little thread about the San Diego Comic Con but now it's just gotten silly! Now get on with it!

Once a topic starts drifting off into stupidness, you know it's time to pull the plug. :]

yeh I would love to go in with a group of customizers and just have a huge display and ads. BUT they have a pretty strict application process to my knowlage and won't just let the mere "puplic" get a booth. and Ihave heard horror stories of booth prices hitting upwards of 2000-5000 bucks. (just what I have heard)

I wish more of you guys were more local because I am getting a booth at the Portland comic con in oregon for only 75 bucks for 3 days. I am going to set up my work and show and tell (and sale) myself **my work** and also promote The Soup.

I wouldn't mind chipping in, as long as I have my name out there with my customs in the showcase or however way that works....^_^

gj... Im not sure how much a booth is exactly (a lot!!) and it might vary from where, how big and duration (5 days) you also need an application in advance.

Buzzy sweetie,

I can tell you must have never been to a con. Yes to the booze. Hookers? Why pay to play? There is an old con saying and I'm cleaning it up for the forums sake. "If you can't get some at a con, you can't get some anywhere." Beware of vampire hippos...oh the humanity!

DeadPool belt buckle?!?

Geez...guess you really can make anything if ya really want to...

*Edit* Just saw that DP buckle on your site Jin, looks good. How long did the Virindi Mask take to make and what did you use for a base?

Sounds great! This could work out to be an even cooler trip!

Do you ever find booze and hookers at a Comic Con? I mean besides Frank Miller's hotel suite.

im doing what I can to get there, Think I might have to sleep in my car though..lol... If im making enough doh as I am know with commissions I will have no prob, take a plane, rent a car, hotel, (hookers and booze j/k) for me and my new sites. Looks like jin joined the soup, right on dude, thats a good start.

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE ***I'll be the guy with all the tattoos and leather jacket (hiding his marvel zombies shirt and deadpool belt buckle under it all)

thanks for that by the way JIN!

Heya! I'd love to do a seminar some time but I'd have to set that up way in advance. Maybe next year? I'll talk to Aves Studios about being a sponsor. Wouldn't that be cool! The Fwooshnet will probably have their 'Starro' customizing panel going like they did last year Saturday. I highly doubt they'd let me walk in the door tho after everything I've been through with them, yeesh. I'll probably be hanging around outside to answer questions when they're finished. I have a ton of people emailing me, asking if I'll be there this year. You can find me at the Marvel booth tho, as I'll be dropping by to chat with Jesse Falcon while he's there!

Hey if you want to send me a few cards I'd be happy to hand 'em out.

I'm in FL, I'm sure the weather in San Diego in July will be like spring time to me compared to the heat and humidity of north central FL.

Haven't been to it yet, I just can't justify to myself spending $30+ to sweat like a pig in that super-hot San Diego! Why don't they have the convention in Winter! But I guess it's okay for the summer break kids to go...

Maybe some day Figure Realm will be able to afford a booth, but nah... the booths are usually for the toy distributors trying to sell to companies like Figure Realm.

Lol... I like the way you are thinking Mr-X!

Lucky...maybe you should "accidently" drop some FigureRealm cards around the Comic Con...
