Ummmm where do we go from here. In my opinion no one can replace Steve Rogers. Should I just read Ulimates now that he is only alive there. You don't think they would kill him there would you.........

Thanks Kyle, I'm doing my Julie Newmar as Catwoman impersonation.

Actually it's the Robin mask that came with the Robin / Teen Titans bo staff I got my 6 year old for Christmas.

I look like I should be in The Flaming Carrot or The Mystery Men.

So will the Punisher change his name to match his new get-up?

Corporal Punishment?

Major Pain?

General Specific?

I don't know who MR. Monster is but I do like your avatar buzzy...lol.. It makes me smile every time. you need to custom yoursef into figure form with that mask on.
Anyways...

I went to Comic book shop today and the owner remembered how bumbed I was that I missed the Cap 25 issue. SO... he set aside in my box (yes I have my own subsciption box at the comic book store....lol) both variation on the cover. I was stoked.. they are both first print too.

That's so stupid! The suit is unecessarily impractical. Masks hinder line-of-sight, something ALL soldiers need the most of! The suit looks padded, WTF!? That hinders movement! And Frank is getting old, he can't be running around with 100 pounds of ordinance anymore! Yaaarrr!

I stopped buying the comic, I'm going to wait for the TPB to come out.

Kaiju Big Battel, a TV show/random fighting thing that is basically a cross between Godzilla and Pro Wrestling, has made a parody of the Cap's Death.

A patriotic hero Kaiju named American Beetle was apparently assassinated.

Then at the bottom of the page another article states that through some crazy plot device they're not actually dead.

Frank wouldn't dress like that for something as useless as a "tribute"! GAAAAHHH!!! There's no logical explanation for it (other than Marvel wanting to boost Punisher sales). There'd better be a good reason for this other than "BECAUSE FRANK WANTED TO SHOW THE WORLD WHAT A SENSITIVE GUY HE IS AND THAT HE LOVED CAP" or I'm going to San Diego and punching Stan Lee right on his 103 year-old nose...although I honestly don't know what I hope to achieve with that xD

did any one happen to pick up Cap #25??? or better yet, did you get the variant cover?? they are going for 20-40 bucks a pop on abay already. and they already did a second print..lol.. I think this is what marvel wanted. $$$$$$..... But then again I read a Quasada Quote that said he didn't want to see him just APPEAR again and wanted a strong message behind his death. Somthing that lasted. Not like collosus or so many others. But heck, Superman died before. And he came back. I was never a cap fan until civil war.. figures they kill right when I was starting to dig him.

First of all, Is punisher gonna DO THE WHOLE DAREDEVIL-IRONFIST WITH HIM AND CAP? PLUS, WHAT IF CAP DOES A SPIDER-MAN? Also, MAXis grittier, but the MAX Cage is still iron-skinnecd dude, just mahusive. There's boobies in it!! YAY!

What a terrible idea. Its going to end up Earth1, Earth2, ect. But Marvels never turned down a bad idea before....

That's what I'm saying! I mean, the MAX focuses on serious social issues that are real and happening to us at the time (which is unfortunately politics, eew. I liked the Mother Russia arc though), and all the grizzly "off-panel" stuff that they wouldn't show normally makes the comic grittier. Although I'm still not sure if all the "super" heroes are gone from the MAX comics permanantly (they never esisted) or if they exsist but they just don't show them at all...if they never exsisted then technically it would be a different "universe"...
avatar
Mr-X -
Tuesday, March 13, 2007
Nope, in my opinion its the same ol Marvel universe, just a grittier take on it

Yup, the only other Marvel characters I've seen in it are military guys like Nick Fury. No crazy Spiderman to be seen xD

It's just that I've seen people argue strongly that they are two completely different "universes", exsisting independently from each other, meaning the two Franks are two completely different people, and that just doesn't make sense. They (the guys arguing that they are 2 different personalities) make it seem like the MAX version Punisher wouldn't stop to help an old lady cross the street, and the fact is that he would. The MAX Frank is the same as the mainstream Marvel Frank, it's just that they don't show those odd, funny moments in the MAX series like Frank climbing up a tree to save a stuck kitty and then have the kitty scratch his face and run off.

And yeah, I've been having this argument on the Toyfare boards too xD

Im pretty sure the MAX version of the Pun is supposed to be more realistic and geared toward readers who wanted to see the Pun doing what he does best uncensored. They've actually kept it pretty real from what I've seen, no superhero or supervillian cameos(and its said that there won't be) and all his victims are common criminal types to the run of the mill pyscho's, everything but a weird supervillian in a crazy costume. Technically I guess you could consider it a seperate version, one that would exist in a more realistic world without superheros popping up everywhere.

Well it worked for Cap for a long time until they busted a cap in his @$$. I think Frank would don it to take on Nazis, Yakuza, Commies and any Italians with the bad luck to be named Mussolini.

He just needs to change the star into a skull.

Nah, why would he dress like Cap to kill a bunch of Nazis? Cap's suit isn't the most ideal thing to wear, all those bright colors just make him a huge target He'd just go in standard skull-black.

What if it were a Nazi based gang? You think he would dress up as Cap to kill them?

Meh, it could happen with this "Marvel Universe" Pun. I keep hearing that the MAX Pun is a seperate person from the one in the Civil War (mainstream Marvel comics) and that just doesn't make any sense. Why would they be two different people? They believe in the same things and do the same things, but they're different? What? Why? But granted, this mainstream Punisher feels like a pansy to me I think it's all the jokes that are annoying me...

No matter which Punisher it is, neither of them would ever be Cap because apparently Frank likes Cap so he wouldn't go around killing people while wearing Cap's suit (would stain Cap's rep or something), which means he wouldn't kill anyone, meaning it's bad for business. Frank never feels like he has to dress up like someone else or go to such an extreme to pay some sort of tribute to anyone. It doesn't make sense! AAAAARRRGGG!!

Didn't Crossbones kill him? But on wiki it says he is dead. Its said 1941-2007. I think he is gone for good. He has been around so long in the comic world I think they just retired him. Over 60 years.

D'oh! I haven't read any Civil War stuff except for the Road To Civil War TPB. I'm waiting for the collections to start coming out. I actually guessed that they were gonna waste Cap when I got the newest Marvel Previews a couple weeks ago and they were going on and on about the Great Marvel Hero that was gonna get iced.

That is a good theory. The whole registration thing was Mr. Fantastic's idea. So there might be something up with him too.

And Iron Man just morphed into the new Ultron at the end of Mighty Avengers #1. And he is a she now... Kinda looks like Dr Girlfriend... Without clothes...

Theory #1

Iron Man has been a captive of Ultron's for awhile now. The Iron Man that has been spearheading the whole Registration thingee has actually been some kind of LMD* of Ultron's construction and the whole Civil War was Ultron's doing. Obviously Ultron let Tony Stark's mind control the Iron Man LMD for the most part to make it really appear to be the real IM/Stark.

Cap's death is faked and he and Nick Fury will come out of hiding to take on Ultron.

*LMD = Life Model Decoy for those of you out there that haven't read any of the old Nick Fury - Agent Of S.H.E.I.L.D. comics. They popped up in a lotta Marvel stories in the 70's and 80's. Convenient to use for these little plot twists.

I have a feeling that his death may just be a fake and just be a way to eliviate the tension with the public. May be Steve will be relocated and allowed to live out his life in peace without being a costumed hero... but will eventually return when he is really needed.
