Favorite Charcter?

Posted in Off Topic

I read an article awhile ago that said Superman was the #1 favorite. We are all a little more educated in comics than most so Im wondering what the vibe is here?

AMEN brother Hicks -
thats what really set it apart also - the use of real guns!
You couldnt have a hard bitten mafioso shoot a pink laser beam firing kiddies pistol

Ya needed a "chicago typerwriter" to do da woik

The violence in the BTAS was very suprising at times when compared to the highly sanitised Fox Spiderman and Xmen shows (tho I liked those too at times)

JL and JLU continued with that ethos and made for some compelling viewing

btas was awesome.

Bouns points for using real guns insted of laser weapons in other cartoons.

I loved the whole 1940 feel to it.

Personal taste I suppose

But personally the BTAS isnt just another cartoon series like Xmen Evo - it had the Anton furst/burton gothic style - Dark Deco

It was an artform from beginning to end - even the crappier eps had something to like - and Marvel really hasnt produced a series of this calibur - ever
Voices are definitely the best ever voice acting in a cartoon
Hamill and Conroy are genius

Xmen Evo did have its highlights - but maybe you have to be younger to truly appreciate it more? I dunno
I'm just glad they didn't make Wolverine into a Kid
And one of the best things about Xmen Evo was Wolverines suit - glad they got away from that hideous yellow n blue...

But Batman animated series, Batman beyond, JL and JLU animated - hell even eps of Supes animated series were truly well written, acted and executed
best ever cartoons to grace our screens

Nothing comes close

I agree most people see him as this rock that everyone leans on, and man, he may be an alien but think if you had to put that much effort into life, how frustrated would you be.

Those lines gave me a smile a mile wide, that's what superman is, pent-up rage waiting to explode on something, unfortunately Supes has to settle for petty crooks and punch glaciers into bits to relieve tension.

I like the Superguy. whats not to like, he what every young geek wants to be, he the hero, he got the girl and his alter ego is nerdy as hell.
The best explanation of why I like the chacter came from JLU the last season where Darkseid came in and tried to invade.
Supes Says something like this. " I have to hold back all of the time, if I shake a hand or pat someone on the back I can shatter their bones, But your a big guy I think you can take it, So Im gonna cut loose and show you just how powerful I really am"
Boyscout or not thats some bad a$$ talk

To true. Youd think a guy with his kind of backstory would lead a more interesting life instead of being your typical-go out, lose powers or get beat around for a little bit then beat the other guy into submission and have enough time to get back home in time for dinner its so...bland...

The only incarnation of the man in blue and red I like is Smallville because he actually deals with normal problems too instead of a constant Supes vs some Badguy with a shiny green rock(though its still present)

X-Men Evo was AWESOME, I hate that it went off air. Luckily they have most of the episodes on Youtube Putting the characters as teens was a good idea, more diverse problems and such including the worlds stance on the Mutant problem, teen angst, Mags and the Brotherhood and of course Apoc.

X-Men Evolution was the best cartoon I saw. I used to watch it on Saturdays. That was the exposure I got that hooked me on comics and marvel. (I never bought a DC comic unless it was free)

I have to say X-Men Evolution was even better than B:TaS... I'm with you on comparing the other two, though.

I also dislike Superman, especially pre-crisis when he could make up new superpowers.

My favorite character is probably Batman, since he doesn't actually have any superpowers, he's just good at fighting and smart. That plus I grew up watching Batman: TAS, as well as Spider-Man and X-men, but the Batman cartoon was the best of the three.

I dislike Superman because he's so powerful, he's uninteresting. 90% of the time, unless kryptonite is involved, Superman is not challenged by a foe at all. Couple that with the fact that even in his civilian life, he's living a comfortable middle class life with no real concerns, I find it difficult to relate to him. Spider-Man on the other hand, is uber relatable. He could have been any of us. He has to worry about rent. He has to worry about missing appointments. He has to worry about his aunt. He's more like a real guy who was given super powers, rather than Superman, who's a superhero who pretends to be a real guy.

The thing is that when you're that freaking strong, you overwhelm yourself so you shut-down and do nothing. He's constanty worrying about scewing up catastrophically so he's pretty much reduced to a guard dog...something tried to blow up the planet, they send Superman to bite the threat on the arse, and instead of giving treats, they just keep Lois safe and hope she dies of some sort of disease instead of at the hands of a villain so Supes doesn't go all "SUPERMAN SMASH ALL PUNY BAD MEN! SMASH POINTY EAR MAN WHO LOOK AT LOIS FUNNY!"

I like Superman, I don't understand how you can hate the guy, maybe all the years of people calling him a boy-scout poisoned the public's mind? It's not like he asked to be portrayed as the perfect super-hero, I'm pretty sure it bugs him because he's not perfect and when he screws-up people yell at him 10 times as hard, not fair. (I wonder how many Japanese kids like Superman? )

And +1 Red Sonja. I don't care if she has no super-powers or if her adventures are outrageous and fantastic or if her wild fiery mane flows spectacularly in the icy winds...wait, I do care, and that's why I love her :]

I hate Supes and don't drag the boyscouts into this he didn't even make tenderfoot as he told the flash and I am an eagle scout and don't want to be compared to that dickweed. (Just giving you grief VP) Supes needs to be killed by someone bizarre like ambush bug and have it be over for good I hate that punk
