They used said strategic shadows for Ultimate Wasp a lot as well.

Heroes Reborn hulk was all naked, all the Hulked out time.

Much use was made of strategic shadows.

I believe all Superheroes should be NAKED. This would settle things once and for all. Imagine a Naked Hulk storming after you...Or Jugggernaut...Yikes. There would also be a plus to this...Female heroes

Difference is tho Superman's 'S' isnt an alphabetical letter but an Alien symbol of his Dad Jor-El's House, or badge Of Office

And Superman desperately needs a change of outfit too - I just hate the tights n trunks look

all my favorite heroes have jumpsuits, onepieces or trousered uniforms

See that looks pretty good with the eagle on his head - but a star would be even better
Like Punisher-cap

Todd McFarlane, unfortunately... that's where Rob's ego started.

Plus, Y'know. It was done by hackmaster Liefield. Seriously, who ever told him he could draw?

Yeah, but the most Iconic thing about SuperMan is the Superman emblem on his chest, whereas with Cap, it's his shield.

IMO, Cap's look is iconic... you shouldn't change his costume anymore than you should Superman's.

I agree that no "A" or the eagle looks better. But, Ultimate Captain America needed to have the "A".

Liefeld tried changing the emblem on his mask in the Heroes Reborn storyline. I think it looks better than the "A", but I guess Marvel didn't think so.

Anyway, I hope they do put the Nazi-eque eagle on Cap's head to see how much fuzz will be made about it I like being proved wrong, it's just that no one has the time or effort to do it :[

The "A" does look pretty wierd to me...maybe they could replace it with Betty Boop, she's pretty american right?

Popeye

Seriously tho - the Eagle with stars and bar Shield symbol on it would differentiate it from the nazi eagle
It'll look like the shield one

Because it would look stupid.

Seriously, any animal on a suit looks silly, if its stylized then it's a little more passable, but if you stylize an eagle people are instantly going to make comparisons to the eagle the Nazis used to carry their flags. I'm pretty sure Marvel doesn't want that connection being made o_@

(Crap, I can't find a pic of the eagle I mean, but meh )

So... Hawkman and Batman look silly cos they have animal symbols on them?

More stupid than a friggin A slapped on Cappy's head?

He looks like hes teaching kids on Sesame Street A is for Apple pie and America

From a design Point of view its awful overdone

Strongly disagree with you Doc about animals looking stupid even stylised ones

An animal on a costume, armor or uniform seemed to work for British crusaders, Roman Centurions and USA Airforce pilot insignia

I do believe Thunderbolt Ross American Military as they come has an eagle on his cap

Then theres the SHIELD EMBLEM - Which please correct me if I'm wrong - features an eagle - oh nos it a Nazi symbol!!!!

Symbol of America man - those pesky Nazis ruined it for you guys

Lets compromise - a Star in place of the A
Even Punsiher cappy had that - looked Killer - much better

But Animals on costumes aint stupid - its been heraldic crest for armies for millenia

Exactly just cos you have an eagle for an emblem doesn't mean youre Nazi
And yeah that Swastika was an Asian symbol for Life and Death if memory serves

Miho has shurikens made into its image in Sin City

I don't think its that serious, when I think of an eagle I think of the mexican flag (me being mexican kinda helps too) and besides the so called nazi symbol is stolen from the ancient buddiest religion. the only reason hitler used it was because he thought it looked cool and it had no other significant meanin to him other that that, pretty dumb eh, the fah ker couldnt even be original

Any cyborg, clone reworked supersoldier or super powered individual can step into the cap costume

Even Hawkeye was cap briefly - its a costume, people fill it - FACT

We'll just have to see how the new boy performs before we make snap judgements

I for one was getting SICK of seeing the old suit - I really dig the new one

I just don't like how they kept the red gloves and especially the bloody "A" on the head or the Wings

Tradition I suppose....

Hauptmann Deutschland and Captain Britain doesn't have Alphabet letters on their heads

I would like to see a Winged star on the forehead like those that emblazoned WW2 Warplanes

Or using the wings to create an American Eagle

Again Captain Britain costumes carried the Lion symbol proudly - why can't Cap carry the proud American eagle on his head?

Its more a symbol of America than a bloody A

As for what Punstarr said about the gun - Sorry I agree with Variable penguin

superhero or not

Captain America embodies the finest points of a soldier - He IS a super soldier
Soldiers always carry weapons - Especially the winter soldier
And that means guns

Guns are synonymous with America - its part of the constitution to bear arms

The Gun and the blade - lest we forget - America was founded by in the War of Independence

The Gun was used by Americans to tame the Wild West

The Gun is as American therefore as Stars and stripes

So it makes perfect sense that cappy should carry one

Officers don't usually carry rifles but service pistols or revolvers
The new Cap carries a Captains pistol.

Colt.45 1911 automatic by the looks of things

Personally I think the gun and a knife makes better tactical sense

Chucking your shield about is fine and dandy - But you need a backup weapon or two

Thats just good tactics - more ways to attack - And Captain America embodies a great tactical mind

I like the New suit
Looks more armored looking
Cross of Ultimate, original cap and USAgent with having a sly throwback nod to WW2 as the chest shield looks like Cappys original WW2 Shield

Which looked like a shield not a star spangled frisbee

Captain America proved to be not bulletproof without his shield - so some more armor is welcomed

Steve Rogers embodied America and an administration as he wanted it to be
He was an idealist and paid tragically for those beliefs

This Cap looks like hes embodying an alternative America - Starks America - thats very close to our own in these dark times and looks a lot more practical

Yeah, Yeah, I know.

But still. I guess what I'm trying to say is Bucky is the only replacement IMO.

Because as was revealed in Civil War, Frank nearly worshipped Cap.

That's dumb.

I agree Buzzy that it should be Bucky, but it could be that guy that acted as Cap in the Invaders re-launch. I can't remember his name.

But for some weird reason, this new costume reminds me a lot of Union Jacks outfit. Wouldn't that be a kicker, having a Brit play Captain America??

I don't like that costume design.

wonder who the new Cap is?

it should be Bucky / Winter Soldier.

Well, Cap originally fought with a gun in WWII, so there's no reason for him to not have on.

Except for the thing that he's no longer a soldier. He's a super hero... and this new Cap is -not- Steve Rogers... and what good is a freaking gun going to do against Ultron, Doctor Doom, Iron Man or any other super villain?

I notice you mentioned Iron Man...

Yep.
