Oh Hasbro...

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

How you annoy me so...

I understand these are directed more towards the younger crowd, But when are they going to realize collectors are who really buy these now.

Repaints, Remakes, Crappy Artic, Crappy Sculpts, Crappy Everything.
The only thing they seem to be good at is Packaging Flare.

Sorry about the rant, But I just can't get over the Toy Biz Era~LoL.

There is going to be a price jump on Transformers?
Hasbro does not do e-bay but a lot of people with Hasbro toys do.

Well with this massive price jump that Hasbro is planning on TF figures a lot of us are going to either stop collecting, buy the imports so Takara gets the cash and hasbro doesn't or do ebay. I'm already tempted to buy the import TFA stuff because I'm tired of stores in the US getting "Exclusives".

They don't move well around here either...
Shelves are always overflowing, They have to open up endcaps to make room and still I see TONS of cases sitting on palettes when they do inventory check.

Odd around here the ROTF figures haven't moved much at all. THe only ones you see being bought are those with G1 tie-ins like soundwave, ravage and such. My dad works at walmart and says they've got boxes of the figures int he back that they can't get rid of. Maybe it's just my area.

In my area yes it was.

When ROTF came out the stores here stocked upped buy buying hundreds of figures per store.

They sold so well that all the stores now just have bigger than normal regural spot in the toy isle.

They sold so freaking much it wasn't even funny.

Even now a days the ROTF section is depleted and contally restocked.

I would also like to point out that all that product was moved without having one sale or being put on clerance.

So where I live Hasbro has made a mint on ROTF toys.

Awww crud...
Hasbro did really good financially this quarter.
And they have there hands in even more things than even I thought they did... WTF.

NOW SPEND SOME OF THAT DAMN MONEY ON PRODUCING (GOOD) LEGENDS.

lol. I'd love more of their stuff but BBTS doesn't put them on sale much even though they had the new Evangelion EVAs dirt cheap form the newer movies. I just passed on a ROTF bludgeon. I love everything but that god aweful head sculpt so I figured that 20.00 can go to an import G1 reissue.

Years ago it was boardgames and then transformers, barbie, and gi joe but now they've got their hands in everything. That and they're spreading brands too far, they found that with barbie and will find it with transformers too. People can't afford to get 40 figures at a time even when they aren't crap.

Seems like they own or try to own everything toy related now, When yo own so many different things it's hard to focus on each line individually and give them what they deserve, And what the fans of specific line want.
Not that I think they even care to begin with.

I've basically boycotted Hasbro. 99% of my transformers are from japan now.

Check out the Diamond (or is it Marvel?) Select War Machine: It looks AMAZING, and like something from the film, @ a roughly 6" scale:

http://diamondselecttoys.com/store.asp? ... No%3D85984

I'll wait until I see some toy reviews on it, but I'll probably get this one, and the "Hypervelocity" Iron Man 2 line figure armor. It looks like it's approaching comic book "Extremis" style.

Than people must really hate them.

I'm not even mad over ML.

I'm MAD they killed my line!!!!

They cancelled TFU/C and were replace by these awful little pieces of plastic turds ROTF!!!!

I'm also mad because of current state of Star wars figures. I'm bored out of my skull with them. Time to change scale!

Could you imagine a 6 inch Han Solo with 22 poa?? Man I'd be down for that in a heart beat! I'm not even a scale nazi I own lots of 3.75 and love my 3.75 figures but Star Wars would be so cool in ML style.
You do know some Universe/classics are being released under the ROTF banner ...right?

Not in Canada

Your right it will never happpen.

Every 6 months somebody writes into ToyFare and ask if hasbro would being doing that.

The awnswer is always "NO"

Now since Hasbro has deep pockets they'll never lose the Star Wars lincse. Besides it seems like every other year their geting 5 year extenstion ontop of their exsiting time frame.

To be honest I'd freaking love it if Hasbro lost the rights to Star Wars. Even if it was just a "change"

I'm sick over aliens that get 3 second screen time geting rehashed over and over again. It's boring! I also IMO that the sculps on the main actors aren't really improving. It's 2010 the likness should be "there" now. They've only had 15(!!!!) years to get it right!

Rant over!

Seriously Hasbro could have molded the crotch differently so they don't have to use that hip joint. And Toybiz only used that hip joint on some of the figures like the thomas jane punisher but Hasbro has to be annoying by using that hip joint on almost all of their figures. Why didn't they use the simplest joint like the one Toybiz used for the X2 X-men United figures? They worked very well and not annoying. This is why I passed up almost all of their figures especially the Wolverine and the X-men toy line.

Well Guys if you don't like Hasbro send them a message.

Stop buying their inferiour proudcts. If everybody who was dissapointed with Hasbro stopped buying their toys thean they would take a hit on profits.

So instead of just talking about how worthless Hasbro is, do something about it!

Stop buying!!!!

personally I think they should buy the rights to Revoltech's joint setup and use them or something I hate how the crotches look odd. DC's figures have nice leg joint setups. Heck I've seen some neca (Streetfighter) figures with really nice setups too.

You can't blame hasbro for that hip joint design, ToyBiz ML had hip joints like that, Bullseye and all of his body doubles had hip joints very similar if not exactly like what you're talking about.

For people who think Hasbro is better than Toybiz, any marvel stuff that went into the hands of Hasbro it turned into a disaster. Doesn't anyone find the new hip joints so annoying. To move the leg forward, you have to move it out and then turn it forward. Why can't just forward? It's the way the hip was designed and molded that they have to use that annoying hip joint. And what's with the scale? It works for Star Wars and GIJOE because they started out like that but not for Marvel. Look at the Incredible Hulk figures in small scale, X-men Origins Wolverine with the unnaturally looking elbow joints, and Wolverine and the X-men toy line with even more limited articulation. The first Ironman movie figures are 6 inch but have that annoying hip joints and now the next movie figures and possibly anything in the future will turn into small scale. The sculpts are so ugly because it's so small they can't get all the great details on the figures and articulation is so limited.

They're packaging wastes a lot of space too, especially on transformers compared to 25 years ago. You look at japanese packaging and you have just enough, I've gotten TF packages you could fit 3 more figures into the empty spaces.

Heh,
It's not all bad, But there's room for tons of improvement.

Side note:
Hasbro just acquired the "Sesame Street" licenses for 10 years.

The thing that annoys me most about the IM2 line is the scale. Why would they make this line at 3 3/4? So they can look like Iron Toddlers next to the toys from the first movie? bollocks

You my friend either need to stop collecting figures or stop hating on Hasbro. These new Iron man figures are great that War Machine is near perfection.

Take it from someone who has to many Marvel Legends toybiz weren't perfet and hasbro has improved upon many characters such as daredevil and that sand giant Cyclops
