Games You've Played Over and Over Again

Posted in Off Topic

I'm becoming a BIG vintage game collector now. So I'm kind of in the gaming mindset lately.

There are games that are great, and then there are games you completely fall in love with. Games that you've beaten, yet you continue to come back to again and again. I'm just curious to see what some of everyone's most loved games are. Mine:

-Super Mario Bros. 1-3 & Super Mario World
-Legend of Zelda 1-2 & Link to the Past
-Super Metroid
-Halo 1 & 2
-Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
-Neverwinter Nights
-Diablo
-Descent
-Doom
-Bionic Commando
-Crystalis
-Contra
-Maximum Carnage

For me it would be Doom and Duke Nukem 3D, I do not know why I play those over and over again but something about them keeps me coming back. I am guessing that the games are super duper fun to play again in my mind.

I haven't played any game over and over again for a long time. I'm just happy to catch a break from er.... life every now and then and have an hour or so to pick up the controller.

But back in the day there were two games I used to play for ages on end: Geoff Crammond's Microprose Grand Prix 1 (and 2) and LucasArts X-Wing. I must've won the Monaco GP 64 times or something like that and shot down thousands of TIE Fighters. The cool part about X-Wing is I had an awesome guide, complete with mission details. Some missions, when completed, would still have TIEs launching from a far away Star Destroyer and I'd hang around and shoot every single one of them!

Yeah I pretty much only play MMOs anymore.

World of Warcraft and Champions Online (I'll probably try DC Universe Online when it comes out this winter)...

Everquest, Everquest, Everquest. I've played off and on over the last 9-10 years. I've quit several times "never to return." I gave away all of my gear, items, money, etc... Then I found free private servers and started playing on them. It almost consumed me. Heh.

They changed the shooting system... made the game into little more than a FPS. Give me the old style RE games any day. I never even finished RE 5.

does anyone remember Metal Mutant from Silmaris? I run this game via dosbox few days ago and completly fall into. I even have in plans to do custom of Cyborg, with more details and some gadgets from the game. I first played MM 17 years ago!.. and now I finally manage to finish it- now I i am the ruler of Kronox, Arod VIII would be great to see modern version of Metal Mutant, like Bionic Commando or other refreshed titles from past

I actually neve rplayed 3 yet. Get this 1 and 2 are the oldest games and work with vista yet the 3rd one doesn't at all. The worst x-com was interceptor and the one where yer a giant robot (FPS). My friends showed me xcom in the 90s and I first had it for my playstation.

Heck yeah.

Those X-Com games were obscure gems. I'd disagree with you about the 3rd one though. It sucked pretty hardcore in my opinion. Lost the spirit and mechanics of the whole game. 2 was in my opinion the best. I loved that you could rename your characters.
