Peace Walker Review

Off TopicI might just start doing this on a regular basis if no one minds, reviews of games.
Anyway! Peace Walker, I've been watching this game like pedobear watches 9 year olds. It's a charming tale of an older man going to Puerto Rico and falling for a 16 year old... >.> Wait a minute this does sound like pedo bear! I kid, the game takes the usual MGS plot route by deepening how much you love Big Boss and confusing me further as to why he went "bad." I mean the story is interesting and keeps me playing, but it's nothing to extravagant compared to the usual Metal Gear hootenanny. It's like saying Kojima has baked you another cake. It's not any better than his usual cake, but it's cake, so it's pretty good.
Story: 4/5 so far, I've not completed the game, so this might drop or raise.
My god is this game pretty for a psp game. I mean I am quite literally blown away by the fact they have a game with enviroments that look this lush on a PSP, it's really impressive. Zoom in your camera just a little to see Boss's beard russeling in the wind, watch the water sheen in the light after you've trudged through a river, and even some quite intensive bump mapping to make materials appear to have depth. Weapons look detailed and character life like... Kojima, bravo.
Graphics: 5/5, damn tasty... for a PSP game.
I believe gameplay is where it falters and flies. One one hand the stealth action has been stream lined significantly, no longer are their air ducts and lying on your belly for hours, but more fast paced running around corners and knocking out guards at "break neck" speed, ho ho! It's a pretty simple affair compared to the utterly stiff Portable Ops games, to this I both applaud it and feel sad. I mean really, why can't I crawl on my stomach? ;_; On the other hand the game tosses in Port Ops rpg style elements of recruit building and item gathering. It takes it to a new level though, now you can develop better weapons with better parts, train soldiers more intensively, send them out on mercenary assignments to earn you some cash. It's pretty awesome. At the same time it's some times frustrating trying to find good recruits. ~_~
Gameplay: 4/5, it could be better, but for what there is there is great depth.
Over all I give it a 4.5/5, it's an amazing game, worth a purchase if you have a psp. I have to get back to 16 year olds... I mean boss battles.

Please wait...
