Resident Evil Reboot

Daylight can be scary too just look at Walking Dead. What they need to do instead of a reboot is disown everything after Code Veronica and go from there. I mean the CGI RE movies like that last one with Claire was good and its sequel is coming out soon. I assume they take place in the same universe as the newer games. I'd rather follow claire's adventures than Chris' unhealthy vendetta against Wesker. Especially since that new company has been trying to get Umbrella's stuff and zombies are still appearing. They've gotta so preoccupied with those odd critters that they found in RE4 that they forgot the original storyline.

I wish the games would get a reboot.
Go back to being the survival horror game that it's supposed to be.
I mean....I like 4 & 5....But they're more like action games.
Especially 5.
And most of it takes place outside...in daylight.

The RE umbrella chronicles game on Wii was the worst pile of zombie dirt I've ever played, kinda like a low rent house of the dead.

It's like with final fantasy. the original creators of both series left and they fell apart. you also left out those crappy Outbreak games. plus you have umbrella chronicles. I hate system exclusive games so I rant about that one all the time. They could have done a few to show the fall of umbrella because you know a lot happen between 3 and 4 not just umbrella wise but you have teh rise of the other pharma companies including that one in the CG movie plus you could make them more of a movie showing the fallout the team had to go through during the hearings against the umbrella folks. they could have made really good deep story based games. plus where the heck has barry and rebecca been? lol

I'm just going to break down the series in chronological order.

RE0 - Introduced some great new elements, was really pretty, and scary, SCARY! It wasn't a necessary prequel, but gave more background to the big scary corporation.
REmake - I skip RE1 because REmake is astoundingly good, it's everything RE1 was, but it's prettier, easier to play, more to do, better acting, better story telling. It was the best step in the right direction. It's a great 1st foot into a series, creating lots of questions.
RE2 - Never recieved a remake, simply just got shoved onto PS, PS3 network, GC, DC, and PC. I might have missed some system. It's pretty good, possibly my favorite in the whole series, it added weapon parts and upgrading as you went, it also added a continual villain that stalked you, Birkins. It created an ever present feeling of dread and stress. You also stood in the shoes of new characters, that were easy to grow attached to.
RE3 - Also never recieved a remake, it and 2 were both stuffed into a compacted light gun game, that while fun, was not the fleshing out the stories deserve. 3 was all about the final hours of Raccoon city, as Nemesis stalked you, hearing his growls out of the corner of the screen. It was awesome, it was difficult, it was another great sequel.
Code Veronica - While this can be considered a spin off, I count it as a primary step in the story. Wesker comes back from the dead, Claire becomes an eco terrorist pretty much, and Chris develops more as a character actually showing his bond with his sister. Steve dies... Veronica virus is harvested, so many things start adding up in the series.
RE4 - Years after... YEARS AFTER?! <.< I started this game up and sat almost confused, hey Leon, what are you doing in rural Spain in the middle of nowhere... working for the government? Now the story may have wedged away from the series slowly, but it was doing so in an appreciated way. They completely revolutionized the original gameplay, gave us a reworked inventory system that felt extremely good and familiar. They fixed up smart enemies, gave us huge scares. Umbrella was there the whole time too, secretly stealing away samples.

WHAT AM I GETTING AT?! 1 was all about the virus in its early stages, prototypes tyrants and lickers. 2 was all about the G virus, more powerful and more deadly, showing creatures evolve and become deadlier. 3 was all about Nemesis, a tank like beast that was nearly unkillable. CV was all about the Veronica strain getting harvested to create the ultimate weapon. 4 was umbrells discovering a dead parasite with capabilites to mutate and control it's host. I looked at all this like Umbrella had been researching and planning for years and years to create the ultimate weapon.

AND THEN 5 JUST UP AND IGNORES ALMOST EVERY BIT OF THAT! There's suddenly a new virus and parasite that they just happen to find and that's it. All past story out the winow.

The RE games could have kept being interesting but it got splintered onto so many system exclusives that you miss half the storyline it seems. RE 4 and 5 should have been made and marketed as side stories that were separate from the main storyline. I liked the movies, they were good zombie films. I just see them as an alternate universe type thing. The romero one would have been fun, I read the script. It wasn't 100% game faithful but worked well enough. Plus I've seen his RE 2 game commercials from Japan on youtube and the beat the heck out of his last 2 zombie films lol. The 4th and 5th games lost me because suddenly these parasites exist that nobody noticed for hundreds or thousands of years? I could see the parasite thing but them suddenly showing up bugged me. To be honest the novels would have made great games. They didn't always match the games because Capcom had them written before the games came out or they changed things but they were really good and with RE zero better than the game.

I HATE ALICE! I admit, that the first RE movie that came out was ok, but even then it had almost nothing to do with the RE games. I wasn't upset, infact I was 12 and hadn't even started playing the games yet. O__o I started playing them and I was like, "What, there's no Hive.... or Alice... or an AI." The movies strayed waaaay to far from teh source material and to read those little interviews about Milla Flatchest saying Capcom loves the movies and her character so much, AND SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE GAMES! <.< I swear 90% of the 3rd movie was her banging the director and saying, "Hey you know what else would be cool for Alice, *hand job* if she psychic powers and a jedi battle."

RE5... blah... I own it, and I'm ashamed. The series is in need of a reboot. The REmake that came out, the first one, was solid Gold. They took the source material and made it awesome, they made it pretty and fluid and easy to get into. They made sequels like Code Veronica and 4 that upped the anti and were willing to mess with the usual formula, but still supply scares. RE5... it was a cheap action game, I didn't even feel satisfied with the story, it was a big slapdash mess. I think a reboot could seriously set the RE series back on the right track and get rid of all this god complex non-sense that 5 had. I want a special operations unit investigating a viral strain gone crazy in a small mountain town somewhere in Colorado and to fight off the zombies that strain creates. RE used to be all about survival horror, and those two words mean nothing in 5 where it's just action.

I want to fight for survival and I want to be afraid of the horror of playing with the lights off. <.< I apologize for any absurd language I may have used.

Look for the new trailer for the next RE cgi movie that's coming soon "Decimation ". Leon is back & he's smoking a group of lickers then another hero shows up I think it's Chris but I could be wrong I saw it on the new RE- bluray I got it early So check it out this Tuesday or you tube it.

lol. capcom loves the RE movies though. I still want them to let Romero make his before he dies. He could probably change things and still use it but the massive budget making it under RE would improve things. Especially after his last one was a total stinker. I like the movies as they're a totally different Universe but the last few games haven't been that great. I do know that the RE movies haven't been as strong as the first two because the writer hasn't been running things. The 3rd one (apocalypse) was directed by the director of highlander, a bunch of 80s vids, and I think he worked on madmax as well. I also heard that the studios have been forcing changes as usual. even low budget movies can't escape the suits fudging things.

Anything would be better than the "how cool can we make Alice look even at the cost of making the actual RE game characters look bad" plots they've been churning out.

Well I'm referring to the remakes. I'm more the type who loves moving forward in the story.

Another? lol. the good news is there is a sequel to degeneration coming out in 2012 that has leon in it. I think RE kinda lost focus of where it was and what it was. they could have done so much with conspiracies and such but they got focused on third world nations.
