If anyone is on the hedge about it's release tomorrow, pick it up!
It's seriously a good game. They incorporated great elements of the Arkham series, and the Web Rush mode is just amazing. I've been playing this all weekend, and have a hard time putting it down.
Oh, they did do that one, too? For some reason I thought it was in someone else's hands for that one. Well, they're doing a great job. Shattered Dimensions was quite enjoyable. Finally getting to play as Noir and 2099 was awesome. Of course, I remember hearing that Ultimate Spiderman back for regular XBox was pretty good, too. And apparently was a little more lenient in where you could go.
But, I will admit, I was wrong. Amazing Spiderman isn't his first open world game. Web of Shadows was quite open world. What I played of it anyway.
That was Edge of Time, right? It was a good game, but rather linear, not open world. Amazing Spiderman is the first one I've seen that was pretty open world where you do things outside of the main story. Edge of Time you just bounced back and forth between Amazing and 2099, following a specifc game path.
Yeah, I mostly found it exceptional for being a movie game. Not often that they're really fun to play because they usually are just thrown together. It definitely doesn't compare to the last couple of Spiderman games, but for being a movie game it was really good. Hopefully they up the ante when Amazing Spiderman 2 comes out and release a game with more diversity in their side missions and maybe more villain encounters. I enjoyed the photo ops where you would find easter eggs to various Spiderman villains, but it was kinda weird that you just took some pictures then went on your way. Having those as actual unique side quest battles would have been nice.
I rented the game and actually enjoyed it quite a lot. It was pretty linear and wish it had more content but it was a fun experience. The game gives you the entire city to run around in but there it can get repetative because you get pretty much the same type of side missions (thug stealing a purse, catch a guy in a car, etc...) and the story missions are simple enough, go here through a one way path and fight the enemies and fight a boss. The mechanics are very similar to Arkham City and at times you it feels like they just slapped Spider-Man in Batmans boots (but just not quite and fun as Batman lol).
Out of 10 stars I would give this a solid 7.5, not great, but a fun game to pick up for cheap and kill some time with.
If you haven't played this, it really is good. And since it's been a few months, the price has actually dropped a bit, so it's more worth a play. Has a lot of aspects of Arkham City in it. There's a lot you can do, and you can keep going even after you beat the game. The story is very well put together, too. And follows right after the movie. So, watch the movie, then pick up the game and continue the story. The comic book pages are the only irritating portion though. There are sooooo many of them to gather. And you don't have maps with their locations like the Riddler Trophies in Arkham Asylum, or people to interrogate like in Arkham City. But, aside from that, I found it very enjoyable. Even has some nice alternate costumes, including Future Foundations which I don't recall appearing in any others yet.
thanks for the head's up, mate! I was on the fence about picking it up and actually can to the forums to see if anyone played it. you sealed the deal for me!
I'm picking it up this week and going to the midnight premiere TONIGHT!
