So What’s Up with the Thundercats Movie?
Thundercats Movie — By Nix on December 29, 2009

It’s been a while since someone over at Warner Bros. got it into their heads that a “Thundercats” movie was needed, and so they put it into development, and two years ago a director was even named. Well that was over two years ago, and still no movement on a “Thundercats” movie at all. And according to Collider, there’s a reason for that.

According to the above mentioned site, “a few reliable sources” have informed them that the humanoid cats have been “buried” over at Warner Bros. Meaning that if the movie ever happens, it probably won’t be over at the WB.

So why the change of heart by the studio (if this report is indeed accurate)? The film itself was always planned as a CG movie, which wouldn’t really require extensive and expensive make-up and sets inherent in a live-action movie of this scale. And it’s not as if movies based on ’80s nostalgia products haven’t been bit hits in theaters, because they have been. “Transformers” continues to chug along as a force of nature, and even “G.I. Joe”, for all the grief it got (from us and everywhere else), still made plenty of money.

Then again, it’s not impossible that a “Thundercats” movie will finally get made in a year (or maybe a half dozen years) or two. This is Hollywood, after all. It took them forever to get “Watchmen” made, and that eventually reached the big screen in pretty fine shape.

Stupid studio, no one buries Lion-O's movie! No one!

I don't know why they just don't stick to animated movies. There are soooo much better. A perfect mix of awesome anime, CGI, and expert voice actors can almost never goes wrong.

There's some info over here, don't know if you know about it but it does seem like they've pulled the plug on it. Sad I know I'd love to see a new movie but I'm pretty sure they'd just spoil it anyway.
