thanks for all the replies! I' d like to mention then they're in their respective packages only...will that thin plastic suffice? or are there chances of the figure beign damaged inside? and fluroscent lights emit UV rays??? :O
be careful with those old stormtroopers CplHicks direct light can speed up the chemical reactions in those old white figures and turn them yellow over time. Same as all those old Jetfires and stormshadows.
I would go with LED lighting its cheap, energy efficient and doesn't give of the heat or UV that incandescent lighting does. If you are going to use florescent or incandescent lighting its a good idea to have a sheet of plastic between your figures and your light source, as plastic blocks most of the harmful UV where as glass won't unless it is specially treated which is very expensive. You can get sheets of acrylic plastic for cheap at any home depot like store for cheap.
I have a display cabinet that have as built in light in the top.
On the very top shelf I display my Vintage Star Wars figures.
I don't know if the light would hurt them. However I the therorise that it would hurt them so I don't turn it on unless I'm showing the cabenit to somebody.
I do think that if your figures are close to a light bulb the heat may warp them or their assorcies.
So in short I do not know if it hurts but I do think it does but I have no proof.
Not really. I just don't know. I do know direct sun light is a no-no for most things, as it fade the color of just about anything. Not sure about the bulbs though.
hahaha :P
