I would say it's not the time that count. I mean if your costumers need it in a date they set, then you should get it done by then. Just make sure you can do the job.
To me if I'm working on something for myself I wouldn't care much about timing. I would take as much time on it. When you take your time you relax more. Also plan and study on the project your working on , it help a lot. Try not to lose interests.
The term fast mean speed. Speed is a rate of motion. When you gain experience your motion going to be much smoother. I'm still sloppy form time to time , but I learn that when I relax it help more than speeding up things.
I'm still learning and I don't mind using my speed once in awhile. My fastest custom I ever got done is a 30 minute repaint heh .
On a average I could get a 6 inch figure done in 6 hours. A 12 inch in about 5 hours. But everything is all depending on the character, claying, drying, painting and my free time. I find it easier not to think about the time and just stay force on one thing at a time. Don't sweat the time, just relax and do your best.
I hate painting, so I sometimes put the parts together then leave it there. Then when I feel like painting, I'll probably get it done in 3 days or more depending on the figure.
