marvel's been turning him into a softy for years. You look at the x-men comics until the 90s and he was still a tough guy. The thing they did with Jubilee looking at him like a father figure (then replacing her with rogue) is when it started. I do agree he was getting a bit soft in the movies. Even the new cartoon is barely keeping him a toughguy. Then again you have to keep the show kid friendly.
I was never happy with the way they handled Sabretooth in the first X-Men film...Sabretooth is one of my all-time favorite villains, but the wrestler guy they had in the first movie mostly lumbered around slowly like Frankenstein or some kind of zombie and just threw stuff around and grabbed people. In addition, his role was very flat and one-dimensional, he was really made out to be a brainless thug. Sabretooth should be every bit as clever and vicious as Wolverine or more so in my opinion, and his movements and reflexes should be quick and cat-like (of course). I was kind of surprised that they went with Schrieber for Creed this go around, but maybe he will bring some intensity to the role. Continuity is nice and all, but I wouldn't want the same crappy Sabes from the first movie. I'm not sure how good this movie will be, but I'm looking forward to seeing it.

USA Today had an article about the movie today and explained how that Hugh Jackman (who is also producing the new movie) really didn't like the direction that the X-Men movie franchise was taking Wolverine. He went on to say that he's been a fan of Wolverine for at least 10 years prior to doing the first movie and that as his portrayer, he felt he needed to do the character justice this time around. He felt like the previous movies had a tendency to portray Logan as "too soft".
I wish they'd have kept the same guy playing Sabertooth. Is that a teenage Cyclops? That could mess with continuity with the X-men movies but otherwise it looks good.
