IM SOOO EXCITED!!!!!!

Posted in Off Topic

My friend and I were looking through the world records video game edition thing and I saw a picture of an Atari 2600... I love old video games. I got my xbox modded so it has all the NES games on it. Through out all of those 8 bit endulgences, I always wanted an Atari 2600... anyways, when my video game deprived friend saw this, he stared at it and said "I think I have one of those."... so now I am going to buy it from him (if it works) for like $25.... it is going to be AWESOME!!!!! The only bad thing, is that he isn't sure if it has all the needed cords with it. so, could one of you 2600 owners send me a picture or description of the cords? like, is it standard AV cables? does the power cord unhook from the system? stuff like that... thanks

Not really necro'ing (I hope)

If you find yourself in need of a controller, the sega genesis controller will suppossedly work with the 2600...(so says the angry videogame nerd..) never tried it myself.

I don't know what happened to my parents' Atari, I think one of the 2 they had was a 2600. It doesn't have A/V cables like what you'd find today so you'll need an adapter to hook it up. The cable ends in two wires, with a Y shaped connector, and each would have gone under a screw on the back of the TV. I don't know where you could buy an adapter since its probably been more than 20 years since they made a TV with those kind of connectors. Best bet would be to go to Radio Shack and ask about it there.

I think the power cord was connected to the system, but don't quote me on it.

I don't have one but try google or eBay for picturescontent of the system. There should be quite a few references.
