Official news on the Nightmare on Elm Street Remake

Posted in Off Topic

Well, this is very weird because I pretty much predicted this happening. Freddy Krueger will be played by none other than Watchmen's Jackie Earle Haley. See a few months ago me and a few friends were all sitting around talking about the remake. Well the issue of Robert Englund not returning to the franchise came up, and I said Robert Englund IS Freddy Krueger....If they absolutely must do a recast(and since Robert turned them down they did), It has to be Jackie Earle Haley. This was before there was ever any speculation on the subject. Now I learn today that I sort of predicted the future. It's really an odd feeling. I also found out some plot details due to reading some of the script, but I don't want to give too much away. I will say this though, the origin for Freddy Krueger is a tad bit different in this film. If you would like to know more, send me a pm. I would post the spoilers on here, but I know some folks wouldn't appreciate it. Either way...come April 16th 2010....FREDDY LIVES.

Says you. To me it was the beginning. Sure there were masterpieces like Frankenstein and Creature From the Black Lagoon, but those aren't really horror. Maybe creepy, but not horror. Horror didn't begin until Night of Living Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre came out.

And Nightmare on Elm Street is one of the finest pieces of horror ever created, as such it deserves to be remade.

I'ts all relative...I love Texas Chainsaw Massacre but at it's core it's a different take on Psycho and 13th is jsut a lamer version of Chainsaw...

your right in a lot of ways wile I do prefer to see a person horribly mangled, its not like the classics...I have just seen so many horrible things it takes a lot to move me...if horror had a golden/silver and modern age,I think your preferences would be the golden age wolfman, vincent price flicks, even night of the living dead....early freddy,13th,the thing,ec... I would call silver age and modern are like the dead silence, jeepers creepers, the ring....agree?

who here considers halloween,13th,elm street, etc. modern horror? I'm still into, wolfman, frankenstein, creature from the black lagoon, this island earth, crawling eye, psycho, that to me is horror. when you let your imagination take over without seeing the person die, mangled etc.
When I watched "My Bloody Valintine" I was horrified. no offended of the lack of imagination..this is modern horror! give me the original any day. just my humble opinion.

Kane Hodder was quite menacing as Jason, but he was not the only one to play Jason, by far, and certainly not the first. Jason is kinda okay to be played by anyone just cause he's silent besides some strange noises sometimes. But Freddy is an icon, recognized everywhere and definetly has a personality all his own. I hope they can do Robert Englund's performances justice.

im not sure about this,I been a freddy fan since I was like 5 so the idea is exciting but...I kinda feel like some things should be left as is

of course rob zombie can do a good remake(it wasn't excactly a remake) and I think the texas chainsaw massacres were killer, and even the 90's remake of night of the living dead was good but they are more often a miss than a hit for true fans

the fact that kain hodder did not play jason really pushed me away from friday the 13th and if freddy...um... I mean robert england is not playing freddy, that already ruins it for me...

Yes the first Rob Zombie remake. But have you seen the trailer for the god awful sequel? It looks like pure unadulterated crap.

Believe me...you don't want anything to do with the F13 remake. Jason looked great in it, and he was smart, those were the best parts about it. It had one of the worst stories I've seen in a horror movie, and also some of the worst acting to boot. Hopefully they'll get it right with NOES.

I haven't seen it yet. I'm waiting for DVD. Only the biggest comic and sci-fi movies are theater worthy for me. Stuff like Spider-Man, Batman, and Star Trek. The F13 Remake looked good, though. But they screwed it up, since in the original there was no Jason.

sadly we also have to face the fact that most of the original actors are 20+ years older. Robert Englund doesn't look that much older but he might just not be up to playing freddy anymore either.

Elm Street is one of those franchises I wish they would just leave alone...I'm sick of everything "new" in horror being crappy remakes, pre-quels, or revisions of stuff that wasn't even that awesome to begin with... the original Friday the 13th was the begining of the end of horror movies...

No it won't be the same, but with Jackie Earle playing Freddy...I think you're definitely going to see a more frightening Freddy Krueger. He's the reason I'm interested. The man nailed Rorschach, so I think he's got a good chance at doing the dream master justice.

I heard about this years ago and for a while I think Englund was going to do it but it kinda took forever to bring together. Last I heard it was a prequel to it. I'm kinda tired of remakes. unless they remake 1986 Trasnformers the movie with CG I'm not interested. This new startrek's put me off remakes all together, it doesn't even fit in with the original history >.< This Nightmare won't be the same without Englund in it.
