Well it looks like my ebaying days might be over

Posted in Off Topic

This really sucks guys....on the 16th of April I sent out a money order to a seller, whom I purchased 2 JP lots off of. There were quite a few rares in this lot as well, including an ornithosuchus. As of today, the seller still has not received it and they live in Indiana. I live in Virginia so it should have been there by now. Well the seller has opened and unpaid item alert for both lots, which means if something isn't done, I'll get 2 unpaid item strikes. Now I know the money order was sent off, and I'm starting to wonder if maybe the seller is lying, and they did receive the MO. Reason being, they're feedback isn't what I would call spotless, and just think, if they wanted to they could keep the money order and not send me the toys. MO's aren't like paypal, unfortunately there's no protection. What do you guys think I should do? I really want to continue buying things on ebay, as besides here it's one of the only places I can buy Jurassic Park toys. Also, does anyone know how many unpaid item strikes it takes to close your account? These would be the first ones I've received, as I ALWAYS pay for what I bid on, just as I always pay for what I purchase on here or any other toy related website.

I ship my figures on eBay for $4.75, I just sent out one of my deadpools today for $4.68. So pretty close. I've figures out the average cost on the size box I use with the average figure, of course larger figures is a little more. I sold one of my ps3 systems and ebay would only let me charge 15 but it cost 24!

As for the Amazon shipping price thing, thats set by Amazon's weight scale, so if the site says a 10 lbs item ships for 6 bucks then ya gotta make up for the shipping different by tacking that amount on top of the item's sale price. Thats how amazon rolls, bleh!

I wonder how many people he does that to. I had that happen on here. Back in jan/feb a guy sold 2 figures out from under me after havingmy cash 10 days, then he refunds it making it sound like he did me a favor, and then before he vanishes he hits me with a negative saying I never sent him anything I supposedly gave him x.x You ask anyone I've traded with and I'm always on time, or close to it, with shipping. Turns out he does this a lot on sites.

Well luckily, I decided to take out an unreceived item alert on this guy, and it seems like as soon as he found out about that, Hey I shipped the items out! Very convenient wouldn't you say? Seems like to me he was gonna stiff me and stick me with some unpaid item strikes, until I threatened to do something very much like that to him. Very convenient. It's safe to say that once I get my items I will not do business with anyone who doesn't have 100% positive feedback.

Your friend is one of the rare honest ones.

I've taken break from ebay right now but because it's full of theives or rip off shipping.

I'm just watching what I spend and ebay can be bad for that

Plus I'm trying to buy Canadian more. I want to support Canadian beniesness and Canadians in these tough econmic times.

^ To be fair I find ever single thing I've bought off the internet whither it be ebay or a online store the seller has profited on shipping charges.

I've payed exact shipping once in my life and than it was only a dollar (I had bought like 2-4 star wars cards)

But ever other time I've always paid more than what it cost to ship. I've done beniueness with the U.S, Canada, England and Japan and it's the same story everywhere.

I figure the seller either pays their fees with the extra money (ebay/paypal) or use it to add a bit of profit to there item.

It ticks me off but I figure if you want to do beniueness on the internet than that's what you have to put up with.

my buddy has that problem but its the only good place for him to unload all his transformers and other stuff. I make sure that the rating is at a good level. Amazon's just as bad anymore and you can tell that the sellers are stiffing you on shipping. I paid $6.99 to ship something 75 miles in PA to my house that was in bubble wrap x.x it only costs me maybe $2 to ship the same figure all over the east coast. They should have to prove that the shipping is exact or as close as possible.

Here's the skinny on U.S. Postal Money orders...

Yes, the detachable receipt is your only way to find out whether is has been cashed or not, but that is all it is good for. There is no way to "track" a U.S. Postal Money order or verify who actually cashed the money order in. However, (as someone already stated above) If after 90 days of the purchase the money order has not been cashed in, you can take the reciept to the Post Office and get a refund. I know both of these facts from experience. About the only way to really insure that a money order is delivered to the proper recipient is to send it via certified mail (which will cost more).

As for Ebay...

Ebay used to be a great place to do business, but they have screwed it all up these days. I quit using them about half a year ago. Oh, I've been stiffed by several people on there, but if Ebay would just go back to the way they used to be, (When they included the buyer/seller's entire feedback history instead of only the past 12 months) you could do business with other people who had great feedback ratings with confidence. I don't know why they are catering to people who are not reliable or trustworthy, it's not that hard to play by the rules and be honest, I had a 100% positive feedback rating the entire 4 years I was on there. If you can't follow through on a deal, you should be exposed to the rest of the community to protect the honest buyers and sellers. For me, using ebay went from an easy way to find or sell stuff to a great big hassle.

http://www.discountanimedvd.com. I posted a warning on here back when it happened. I'd seen complaints yet my friends never had problems if you used paypal. I was using a money order. They acknowledge the payment and then vanished. The BBB and my state attorney general couldn't do anything.

I got ripped off from an online store everyone else had good luck with. They took off with a buncha people's money when they sudddenly went out of business over a weekend, apparently took their inventory with them too as their store was shut down. Paypal's no better, the cash is gone once it leaves the person's account.

problem with postal money orders is you have to wait 90 days to make a claim. It wouldn't surprise me if they're lying. I don't deal with people whose rating is under 98% on any site.

If you used a money order and detached the recipt part in the MO their should be A number on their call that to see if it has been cashed if not go to where you bought the money order and see if they can track it .
I just hope you used a postal money order they have the best tracking & security features.
I hope everything goes through smoothly for you .

It's true you can go to your bank and and see if it's been cashed.

I'd start there.

Isn't there some way of tracking the money order? Did you keep your receipt. I'm not positive, but I thought you could see if it was cashed or not somehow, like a check.
