New to customs

I'm new to making customs I've heard to sculpt you can use apoxie sculpt. I just wanted to know what I use to say get ride of hair and make indents for if I wanted to make a zombie. Also painting what would I need I what it to look detailed so I don't want to use model paint unless it works better than I think those are my only questions if you could get back to me that would be great.

here's all the sites custom tutorials... ... as far as removing hair and making dents go, you need to pick up a dremel (rotary tool)... yeah...
