best zombie movie is white zombie 1932, classic horror... I don't really know too many zombie games... actually the last one I played was zombie nation for the nes (too lazy to go out and see if there are any for the psp) for newer zombie films there are sooo many independent ones out there, actually for a while there erie pa use to have a independent horror film festival type deal... don't know if they have it anymore but it was pretty cool.
Movies-Dawn of the Dead (orig. and remake), Shockwaves (awseme Nazi zombie movie), Dod Sno (Dead Snow, another Nazi zombie), Night of the Living Dead (B&W), Day of the Dead (ORIG. the remake was HORRIBLE lol), Return of the Living Dead, Brain Dead/ Dead Alive, and Shaun of the Dead.
Games-Left 4 Dead (got boring after awhile), Dead Space, Resident Evil series, Dead Rising (I actually didn't really like it), and my favorite...Call of Duty: WAW's Nazi Zombie game mode! Can't WAIT TILL THURSDAY!!!!! MAP PACK 3 COMES OU WITH "DER REISE"!!!!!!!!
I totally agree about the Romero movies, they were freaking awesome! But to say he did it without gore is so wrong. All of his zombie movies had some of the most gory and bloody scenes in horror history:
The scene in Night of the Living dead where the zombies are munching away on human remains was really risque for the time it came out (1969). And Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead the had gore in like every scene: The wife getting her shoulder ripped out by her zombie husband in Dawn, the jerk captain in Day getting ripped apart and eaten alive while he was screaming like a banshee, the zombie who got his head chopped off by helicoper blades in Dawn, the zombie bending over off the exam table and his guts falling out in Day, the motorcycle gang chopping zombies heads off in Dawn, the zombie extermination in the basement in Dawn, the Doc drilling through a zombies head in Day. And I could keep going but I think you get the idea.
Best zmbie films all of the dead films, excluding Diary of the dead it was more like a teen film than a zombie film. Also the Res Evil films.
Worst zombie film is House of the dead, it is terrible, overused matrix effect and hammy acting. Funnily enought though House of the dead is one of my favourite zombie games along with Res evil and dead rising, nothing beats killing zombies with a lawnmower!
All Romero movies, especially back when he filmed in my area (I'm near pittsburgh/monroeville). The resident evil games (the originals up until Code veronica). I'm not big on newer zombie movies, the Romero films managed to be creepy without a ton of blood and gore, while newer films seem to be more about gore than actually being scary/creepy.
I haven't watched too many zombie movies, or played any games including them, but the closest game I played with zombies is FEAR 2, and anything that I watched that had zombies was Thriller, so...
Dawn of the Dead, the original 1979 one. That movie is a zombie masterpiece. It gives that feeling of chlostraphobia and hopelessness that makes zombie movies so good, absolutely perfectly. It also has a message about the danger of the over-commercialization of our society, which is now a sad fact.
Shaun of the Dead was great too. One of my all-time favorite comedy movies, I could watch it over and over again. And it's a pretty good zombie movie on top of the comedy.
My favorite zombie game is hands down the Resident Evil series. It was the first game to actually creep me out a little, and genuinely made me jump at places (the dogs jumping through the window in RE 1, and the zombie busting through the door in RE 2 when normally it was just a load screen). The cinematics and the storyline are top-notch. And the gameplay is pretty immersive. My favorite would be a toss-up between RE 2 and RE 4. Both were absolute masterpieces and pushed the genre into a new level at the times they came out.
