Well there's no way around that, especially in this day and age. Its not like back when our grandparents where kids. Back then parents probably started wedding funds once their daughters were born.

Yup, all in all people did help out and I'd say her parents probably helped the most, we still ended up spending about £2000 of our own money though.

that's why her folks are supposed to help with that lol. Used to be they paid for it all but these days I'd be happy if they chipped in as the wedding present.

It's not too bad from the UK and my dad paid anyway, I also got the engagement ring from my mum (family airloom) so it was pretty much a free engagement, it's the wedding that really cripples you.

Haha, I gave my wife an eternity ring that was being held by a dr.Who cyberman and she nearly missed it too. Oh and we also had a starwars themed wedding party, it was awesome!!!, I actually proposed next to a lagoon in Greece where there is a tiny wedding chapel, it was dead romantic and she had no idea it was coming, gag,gag,gag

I'll propose someplace odd like a porn shop or something lol. I can think of a few funny ideas that I can't list on here.
