Electric Wizard

Posted in Off Topic

I dunno if any of you guys are Electric Wizard fans, but I went into a local cd store, FYE (for your entertainment), and I'm going to go buy the new album Black Masses and the woman there at the counter said we don't carry your people's kind of music... I don't remember metal heads being a bad thing, sadly enough to say though I think it was due to the fact that I insulted their twilight fans at the store... but still what happened to people listening to metal in general, it's like it's gone off the map

its surviving because nobody wants to go to niles or boardman. before malls it was plazas then the malls replaced those and now plazas are picking up again. in another 25 years the malls will be big.

realistically it's like the one by the k-mart plaza in meadville, it's going to close down, most small malls and strips don't keep open that long anymore

It's also the fact that the old people and shop owners have complained about teenagers (and the teens in the 90s ruined it by being animals) that they're wanting to drive out anything that attracts teens. I bet TRU doesn't stay long not just because of that but because it is so danged small.

they were really just a bunch of scuzballs, it's service like that and they wonder why the mall can't keep shops open.

Is this the FYE at Shenango Valley Mall? If so they pretty much spit on you if it isn't rap you're buying, its all they have playing when the stores are open and I swear the metal section is shrinking. I've learned to take my cash elsewhere, they were really snobby when we went looking for Celtic (enya of all things) one year as a gift. You should have gotten in touch with their corporate office and demanded to talk to the store manager. I've been raising hell with managers and corporate for a lot of stores in our area (especially the hermitage giant eagle).

I agree what the clerk did and said was uncalled for and they should be reprimanded. But same way metal fans consider themselves tp be "metal heads" twilight fan also have a bond and brotherhood if you will. So possibly to this clerk what he was saying towards their passion could have been far worse. That however never gives a store clerk permission to refer to anyone as "your kind" or "people like you". A simple "sir we reserve the right to refuse servise to anyone. Your actions are upsetting our other customers we are going to be forced to excersice those rights".

Oh I love all different kinds of rock, metal included....I just thought it was bullsh** what happened to this guy. In a way it is discrimination, because the clerk pretty much said we don't cater to people like you. At most, I would have complained to the Mall manager about it. That's just rude and uncalled for. I don't really have a problem with the different kinds of rock today, because I have bands that I like in each category.

Wow I have so many things to say about this subject. Where to start.

-I don't think this would be discrimination as metelhead isn't something that is described under PC guidlines such as race, religion, sexual oriantation, age, and/or financial background.

-I have actually sat through a twilight film with my sister so I now for a fact that those films are horrible. However I myself would never go into a buisness and bad mouth any of thier product unless they are trying to force it on me and a rude way. Remember the golden rule should always apply.

-what has happened to metal today.... wow we will be here awhile. The target demographic of music these days and especially stores like FYE are not metel heads. They will obv be more willing to catar to the larger marget out there. Another issue with metal today is it has become so filtered and branching. I mean there is Nu Metal, Metalcore, screamo, post metal, mathcore, avant garde metal, emo metl, hardcore metal, & and so many more. To the point to where the most mainstream metal will be the only one that sales and thus keeps growing and expanding.

Disclaimer: I am a fan of metal music but at the same time I enjoy alll musical genres and personally would never define/title/lable myself by the music I listen to.

That's so...insulting. I'm a metal head from way back, and if I were you I would have complained...that's discrimination right there. My local FYE carries a lot of metal...it's probably got the best selection of metal that I can think of around these parts...oh and Twilight can rot in hell. lol
