Had a blast at Wondercon and took pics!!!

Off TopicHad a really good time at Wondercon last weekend and I took a lot of cool pics thought I would share them.
I really liked these two's costumes, I think they fit their respective roles well so I had to take a pic.
A really pretty elf, if only she wasn't distracted in mid pic taking.
They looked pretty cool as well.
These two Mortal Kombat characters looked dead on. Pardon the pun.
A pair of Twillik jedi , I do mean a big pair.
She looked really good as a character from Sucker punch, if only she smiled
I don't know the character but she was a paid model for one of the booths
This was an awesome gigantic banner for the upcoming Resident Evil game.
This was an AWESOME gigantic Hulk Statue
As a Batman fan I had to take a pic of the enormously cool Batman Banner at the DC booth
Two Japanese cuties, sorry for the pic being blurry.
An Awesome statue of the X-force Archangel
An Awesome statue of the X-force Warpath
Some models promoting something?
A really awesome 5 foot statue of a Gundam.
Don't know the character but she looked awesome.

Please wait...

" the kids getting older younger dilemma". When you and I were like 7-14 maybe I assume you and I were reading comics, buying toys, t shirts based on this ect. Their was/is a generation of kids, products of the gen x ers and the era befor, that are for lack of better term , growing up faster and by that they mean they lose intrest in normals kid stuff early and graduate to mid to late teen intrests at 8-10. It's a major reason toy company's have turns their attention to us as a demographic Insted of like in the 80's were they marketed only to kids.
Dc has been witnessing a slump of readership for a very long time. Only seeing their
Circulation go up durin their events and crisis.
Marvle has also been looking to "skip" marketing to a whole generation and Insted apple to the 5-9
Years olds and hope to hook them now. By re booting all their charechters to be more in line win a younger crowd.
It never works in my opinion. They did it with spidy twice now in multiple books.
But even without movies this would have happens. The death of superman was an attempt to pick up slumping sales
By testing different versions of superman out, black guy, teen , robot, future guy.
When none took well they said lets make super man come back and he will be hip!
Black suit long hair no cape...everyone hated it.( also superman is stupid, he is a dxm)
Anyway, books right now are only cheap cause they are trying to keep it down.
I think they both committed to no more then 3.00? But it coasts more. They are eatting it
On these books hard. Most people just buy the collections and not the indaviduale trade. This actually hurts the books.
If circulation is low a book gets canned. But the. It might sell well in collection at that point it is over.
These movies are honestly keeping marvel alive. And the batman movies, which were awesome, covered for the lose the had on superman. I like the movies being made. and appealing to new fans. And 52 has brought about some cool things, court of owls, new night wing? The returne of bat women and the reinventing of death stroke!
Anyway , these relaunches were based on the success ( criticly and financily ) of the ultimate
Re boot univers by bendis. It gave people like me who had walked away from the comic bookworms
After the boon doggie of the clone saga, to re visit comics and see that people were still able to do interesting stuff.
And honestly, if not for the ults this book this a angers movie might never have come Bout?
Also I was just abbriveating your name. No harm ment boss.
Some times sarcastice jokes sound like offensive statements. I apologize and no spiderman one wasn't amazing but considering what comic book movies used to be and what they are becoming now? Is amazing.
Didn't mean for this thread to take on this kind of tone, I was just trying to give ya a shot in the arm. Hope everything is cool. And to clarify a few things. When I said the MK characters were dead on, it was my sad attempt at humor cause one of the characters is Scorpion who is dead. I really didn't mean that they were exact replicas of the characters they portray. And the Phoenix and Nightwing I just said I think they fit their respecive roles well not perfectly. And as for Asians I have to say I hate them all.....just kidding I am Asian so it's funny to me. I guess we all have our opinions on the different cons. I have to say I am starting to sour on the whole San Diego comic-con. I tried twice this year to buy tickets and all I ended up doing was wait in a virtual waiting room until they tell me they are all sold out. So I think I am going to go to Wizard World if they have one in LA. As for the comic world going mainstream I guess I am kinda torn. I do enjoy some of the comic book movies (loved both Iron mans) and I've been tattooing comic book, motu, transformers and street fighter characters on me for over 10 years now and only lately have people have come up to me and tell me how cool they think it is. Before the big comic book boom I think people just thought it was weird a grown man would have such childish tattoos. But on the other hand a lot of people have been jumping on the comic bandwagon because it is vogue now that kind of bothers me. I am a comic book geek from a long time ago when it was look down upon. I have a comic collection that ranges in the thousands, I have hundreds of action figures. I have a black supra with a body kit and a gigantic bat symbol on the rear hatch back glass. I named my kid Logan after Wolverine. All these things are suddenly cool and accepted in the mainstream now and I don't feel as original as I once did. So I guess we will have to see how this rides out and in 10 years I will be looked down upon again.
The reason I don't like comic con and the comic world becoming more hollywood is because its bad for the long term fans. Once they go big in hollywood they have to do whatever they can to hold on to their audience as evident by Marvels making most their titles more kiddie and DC completly rebooting their entire universe! So yeah if being a "hipster" means I want my characters not turned in to another Jersey Shore or other such fad then pass me the Lensless glasses and turn up the arcade fire baby!
Darth you are correct all the women are very attractive (you freaking perv your married!...Im telling) I just enjoy giving people a hard time. Most active members on the board realize this but then I need to remember there are a few overly defensive people who may even call me names for having fun
It's awesome! YOU KNOW WHY!
IT'S FANS! FANS DRESSED AS WHO THEY LOVE! And I got some bad news therp...most good cosers. Their Asians. They have dedication to the craft! And therp is right about if you had a good time. Cons are best when it's by fans for fans. And to
Countermand his argument about pop culture and hollywood. Comics and subculture have ALWAYS been about over takening holy wood. So now that is has your gonna pull the hipster card and be to cool for school!? Not me! I'm gonna OWN
THE GOLDEN AGE OF NERDDUM! I waited forever for a good spiderman and comic movies!
It's here and it won't last forever! Enjoy it well it lasts! And dude! Thanks for the photos! I posted last years
B more photos were I meet Stan lee! Thank much man! And keep rocking the customes. Love what I'm seeing from you.
I guess I am not as analytical of cosplayers as you are. I just go by overall how cool the person looks. I am not a cosplayer but I am sure a lot of work goes into the costumes and pulling off a specific character seems really difficult to me. So if a minor detail is over looked or if the race of the person is not exactly right I can over look that as well...as long as they look cool.
And yes you have found out my secret. I like to take pictures of attractive females. Be it cosplayers or models that work the booths. I find this more appealing than just taking pictures of dudes. So if this makes me a perv, a perv I am.
And I think you have to go into a Convention like Wondercon with the right frame of mind. Of course it's no San Diego Comic-con, but you can still have a lot fun. I (like you) am fortunate to live in California so I go to every Convention I can. And yes San Diego Comic-con is the king of cons. There is no disputing that. But I have been going to both for the last ten years and Wondercon has made great strides. There are a lot more major company support setting up elaborate booths showing off their products and there are even panels with celebrities that are there to promote their upcoming projects. No one like Angelina Jolie or Hugh Jackman, but Emma Stone was there looking as lovely as ever. I am not going to change your mind about Wondercon but I scored tons of figures for a very reasonable price, bought tons of gifts for my family and had a great time.
Every cosplayer you took a pic of has a female in the pic...perv
Wondercon=MASSIVE letdown
