I live in an area that has limited local options for buying figures (used and otherwise), so finding the parts I need to customize figures and add articulation has been a bit of a hassle. I've been looking into buying sheets of joints online recently, but everything seems to be ball joints--which are great, but not what I'm after. I'm hoping to find some swivel/hinge ones, or learn how to make an 'at home' substitute, like the swivel-joint-screw trick. Does anyone know a hobby store I can look into, or an easy fix?
Try getting bulk lots of Revoltech joints, those work exactly like swivel hinges and make body parts easy to swap around. Theyre perfect spheres though so you may need to camoflauge them somehow depending where you use them.
Definitely learning to make your own and cast them would be best, unlimited resource for your dwindling fodder pile. But also the obvious suggestions - other customizers, Ebay (gag) bulk lots, I can find things on shopgoodwill.com, and sometimes, very very rarely, you can find sales, but not like the old days. I've started casting parts in resin, since they're getting harder to find, and I can't afford to pay 25 for a figure anymore. Crazy how expensive our hobby has gotten.
