Removing a pin in hinge head

Posted in Custom Workstation

I am new to the world of action figure customization and have been collecting loose fodder pieces. I am working on a couple of 6 inch female figures in the Marvel Legends line and using Mystique, Psylocke, & X23. These are not simple heat up and pop off heads. How do I remove a pin in hinge head, which I believe is also pinned to the hair. Snapping the head of Psylocke off was tedious work. I will have to dremmel out her head for it to fit pop off head bodies and I will have to build up a usable neck stump if I want to reuse the body. Any thoughts or advice for a newbie?

The psylocke whose head I snapped off was a different style then the one in the instructional. The X23 figures were a heat and pop off type....just a different type od hinge neck with a smaller ball socket connection for the head. I wish they were all like the Shield agent Hill/Agent Carter type....a thicker neck with thicker ball socket head connect

I'm pretty sure they are, at least Psylocke is, unless it's a different figure. Take a look here http://www.figurerealm.com/customtutori ... view&id=44

If you want to remove the hard disc/peg itself, you need to crack the torso open.

I have the old Marvel Legends Mystique somewhere too, I'm sure I had to pop her head off at some point to paint it, but I can try to pop it off to make sure.

Sadly, no those figures are not solid peg necks which plug into a socket head. The neck is made like a pin hinge forearm in which a circular disc with posts on each side fits between. The disc is connected to the head socket with plastic or glue when fabricated. Not all Marvel Legends heads are the same.

Far as I know all those heads should come off after heating, they're just pegs plugged into the soft heads. Not sure why it isn't working for you, maybe you're not getting them hot enough.
