You can crack the lower torso/crotch piece, and take the legs out. Dremel the top of the channels where the barbell articulation sits in, and take a little of plastic away carefully. Don't dremel inside, and be careful not to hit the soft rubber piece that's inside the channel, because this allows the articulation to be smooth and not loose.
Glue the leg barbell thing on the back piece of the crotch, be careful not to glue the legs themselves because you'll lose articulation that way. Then put these pieces on the ab/upper torso part, and glue the front crotch piece on.
Not simple if you don't know how to crack torsos, but still a solution to your problem.
Maybe I should do a tutorial on the showcase custom section.
