[UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who participated! Everyone walked away with a cool custom and the rainbow friendship sparkles are everywhere, stay tuned for another one coming soon.]
============
Anyone interested in a secret custom trade event?
=The Jist Of It= This is a community event where you make a custom for someone and get a custom in return.
All participants make a list of customs they would like to receive, and then email the list to me along with their shipping address. [The email is [email protected]]
I then randomly distribute those lists among the participants. Everyone then picks one character to make (or as many as they want, if they're feeling generous).
On the deadline, I give everyone the addresses they should ship to, and everyone does a happy jig! Once that starts, feel free to post pictures here of what you got so we all be so jelly lol.
=List Guidelines= You can list as many characters as you want, but list at least 5. It helps to pick varied characters so whoever receives your list has a wider selection (and level of difficulty) to choose from.
Be sure to say what version/outfit you prefer, as well as scale and figure style (DCUC, Marvel Legends, NECA, etc.). There's no guarantee you'll get the custom with those parameters, but it may motivate the person to try something new.
I think it's understood everyone expects to receive an articulated action figure, but feel free to make notes in your lists if you don't mind less articulation.
=Basic Requirements For Participating= •You must be competent at painting and mashing figures together. Like TMB once said, don't make it look like you're "spitting paint through a straw."
•You must have a respectable amount of work submitted to the Showcase. If you only have a handful of pieces here, but they're good enough to show you can make more complicated customs, then you can still join. If you normally post your work elsewhere and want to participate, that's cool, just post a link to your work and a way to prove it's yours.
•You must send me WIP pictures periodically so I know you're actually working on the custom. I won't start bugging you for pictures until the event is halfway to the finish line.
•You must be able to ship things domestically and internationally. Remember, you'll be paying to ship the custom to its new owner.
•No drama, plox. While shiz does happen, I'm not going to accept everyone's cat conveniently getting run over as an excuse for flaking lol.
•Put as much work into the custom as possible. Treat it like you're making something awesome to put on your own mantlepiece. When we all do the best we all get the best gifts! The true gift of this contest is friendship and rainbow sparkles, but I also want a custom Rom the Spaceknight, so let's do this thang!
Chime in if you're interested!
Oh yeah, what do you all want to name this event?

Participants so far: KMan720 panchopantera LuvNidleness Omarali Redmist Dr.N
I've now heard from everyone and have sent out the addresses, go ahead and ship your stuff asap. Then go ahead and show off your new custom in here lol
*Edit* Just realized this wasn't what you were asking about For pics I believe you need a hosting site. I use photobucket and copy and paste the direct link into a comment and it automatically converts it into an image.
I'm nearly done. just need to "superglue shield" the hands and apply a clear coat. I'll buy some more superglue tomorrow, do those finishing touches, and take some pics. Sorry for being so slow.
Question: should we send out our finished project(s) before posting them online? If so, Doc: U can give me the person's address. I just have 2 take the pics!
Does everyone want to get started? Might as well, will be a good way to see how quick everyone works and we can work out the kinks. The sooner they get done the sooner we can swap em.
Ready to go. Omarali & Heroes Assembled Customs seem to need time. Doc, if you go back to your initial suggestion (3 mos.) I believe that should work 4 most of us. I will be reducing my custom making time starting in the fall but I'm good till then.
About the time frame, my ideal situation would be to have at least a few weeks if not all of June to work, since that's when I have the most free time.
Hey Dr. N, sorry to do this, but I am starting to doubt my ability to follow through on this (work schedule). I am going to have to bow out. I figured it is better to flake now then 3 months from now. Hope there are no hard feelings. Thanks. Looking forward to maybe participating in the next one.
I see you have two submissions but they're very basic mods...and they're from like 4 years ago. I think everyone would be more comfortable if you had at least a few more finished and more elaborate customs.
How about naming it The Un-boxing? Thinking outside the box with artistry and creativity, and when we receive the custom, we get to take it out of the box physically.
Everyone can sign up in the new Event topic I just posted http://www.figurerealm.com/topic?topicid=9486
Hadn't looked at this topic for a min...Here's my Secret friendship and rainbow sparkles entry: Psycho-Man
