Limb swapping/custom joints

Posted in Custom Workstation

I didn't find this topic in the forums, so I apologize if it's already been asked and answered.

I'm prepping a figure for a parts swap. I want to swap the original arms of a DC Classics Clayface for the DC Universe Collect & Connect Gorilla Grodd arms. However, I'm new to parts swapping. Is there a way to make strong custom sockets for the build-a-figure arms so that I can just pop them in? I want to keep the original swivel joint in the Grodd shoulders. Or is this something where I should just go and buy the Grodd body and cut the arm sockets out to attach to the new figure? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Easiest way is to find an existing joint and graft it in there somehow, like you mentioned. For example, look into LEGO pieces, they have ratchet joints, turntables (swivels), technic connectors (for removable parts), all sorts of compact parts that work well if you get creative.

I plan on using the Lego Technic pins for removable/interchangeable hands. But since I want to retain the swivel joint in the shoulders, I'm trying to think of a way to make a strong socket in the body. The Gorilla Grodd body is quite expensive online so I don't think I could spend that much money just to cut it apart for shoulder joints.
