Seen the ideas float around and I think they'd be a great addition. (However, whether or not such things can be implemented into the site are up to Captain Coder)
Critique Option When submitting a custom, there will be an "Accept Critiques?" checkbox you can tick to let people know whether or not you want them to critique your work. Also, we could have a Critique checkbox in our customizer profiles, so ticking that box will display an icon in all our submissions saying we're open to critiques, so we don't have to activate the feature for every submission.
"Like" Button It bums us out when no one responds to a custom we worked hard on. Not everyone has time to type out a complimentary comment, so a quick click on the "Like" Button would let us know there really are people out there who appreciate the stuff we make. We could choose to make the amount of likes visible or invisible on the individual customs' pages.
What other ways would you implement these features?
I do think that if a critique system were implemented, customizers would need to develop some thick skin, as a designer's general first instinct is to become upset at perceived unfair critiques. There would probably need to be a form of "friendly feedback", so that the user feels they are being helped rather than judged.
Page view counter and/or "like" button have my vote. I'm personally less inclined to want or need a critique option as I'm already overly self-critical of the work I do, don't really need others "piling on" so to speak.
Yes, that's excellent Dr. Nightmare . And regarding the word "critique" I consider this one has a negative connotation. Could be better use " Feedback request" or "advise request", for the users that wants to improve their level.
Hi, Why not a visits counter? That will give you an idea of how many people is interested in your work, even if they are figurerealm users or not. In my case as example, I visit many figures in the Realm, but I only let comments in a few of them. I think could be useful for most of the creators.
I think that might be useful combined with the Like feature. Comparing the amount of views to the amount of Likes can give an idea of how popular certain themes or characters are.
Another idea could be to implement a rating system similar to the contest rates. This system could work either with or independently of the a like button. At the very least, it could give an idea of the quality of one's work as perceived by others.
You mean like coolminiornot.com? I don't know, I think encouraging critiques is better than arbitrary numbers. It's also why I don't like the current voting system for the contests, I'd rather people say why they think something is good or bad, not just throw a number out there.
I'm not crazy about the Like Button idea either, but it's benign enough and I think encourages customizers enough that I don't mind it.
