Sculpting claws

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hey guys! I'm currently working on a X-Force Wolfsbane. I'm using a Captain Marvel body and Superior Venom's feet and hands. For whatever reason I was under the impression SV's hands were clawed like his feet are, but apparently not. I've been trying to add short claws to mimick the feet's using apoxie but it's so small, it never seems to want to stick and when it does and I start sanding off the excess putty, it breaks off. Does anyone know a better way to do this, or know of an alternative? Any tip appreciated!

I just finished sculpting on 7 tiny zabrak horns onto a tiny 3.75" head. I imagine the scale is somewhat similar to your claws. From my experience: ditto DrNightmare on supergluing them back on!

When it comes to sculpting, what I did was smush just a tiny bit of apoxie into the area, formed it into roughly the right cone shape (which was usually too large). Then I waited a few minutes for the apoxie to firm up a bit more, then carefully cut away from the sides to get it down to the proper size using a craft knife. I used a ball tip embosser to nudge the edges and shape the tip a little more as needed. I had to wait for each horn to cure before doing the next or I risked smashing it or knocking it off altogether. I didn't need to sand afterward, but instead used the craft knife to gently cut as needed. Of course, being horns, I didn't need nor want them perfectly smooth. It took me a while but the only one I knocked off was the very last one...which I glued back on :P

Yeah that sounds pretty similar to what I'm trying to do... Having to do one finger (or 2) at the time is going to take a while...

Yup, since I didn't do it every night after work, it too me about a month all told for 7 horns. If you're more dedicated, you could do it 1 per day or several on a weekend as long as you wait for cure inbetween. Good luck! And if you get one that the shape is perfect and then it bumps off...glue that puppy bac

Another option is to sand the ends of the fingers down until they are pointed like claws.

Just superglue them when they fall off so they won't fall off anymore when you refine them. Coat them in glue again when youre done. I do something similar when making spikes
