What resin do you use for casting?

Custom WorkstationI've been playing around now for 4 months. My end goal is to do some small scale repro (collector, not for playing) figs so I want to be able to mold and cast. I've been using SmoothCast's Oomoo30 for making silicone molds. For resin, I bought the SmoothCast 65D, which I'm pleased with the finished cure on as far as hardness. However, it has such a short potlife and I'm discovering that it is not wanting to flow into some of the smaller details. (For example, it won't even pick up antenna on a Greedo head). Since I had some sitting around, I tried some Envirotex resin and was surprised that it did pull out those voids just fine. However, that has too long a cure and isn't the right type of resin moving forward.
I'm also doing all this as a basic pour, no fancy vacuum or pressure stuff for me. I've tried to create the molds properly with venting shafts anytime a detail is on more of an angle, but in the Greedo example, the antenna are directly vertical from the pouring shaft. In my zabrak horns I just tried, it either trapped air bubbles at the top of each tip or just didn't flow down into it, not sure which.

Please wait...

Action Figures on eBay
Anyway, wanted to let you know something that maybe is common knowledge but I know I misunderstood. That "6-ish month" shelf life of Oomoo-30 - that's from DATE OF MANUFACTURE and NOT date of cracking open the seal/bottle! So depending on your source, you might get a bottle that's already at it's month 3 when you open it. At least that helpx explain why it seemed to go thick quicker than I expected.

Question on the Oomoo-30: I wrote the dates I opened everything on the lids so I could track. I opened them Thanksgiving weekend (end of Nov). I know they say to use up within 6 months but it's barely even 4 months. I have been obsessive about sealing up the bottles as soon as I divvy out my amount needed. However, a few weeks ago I've noticed my part B (the pink bit) is becoming so thick that it's almost rubbery now. My mixed silicone no longer even pours as a stream and I have to sort of palette knife spread it. Has anyone else had this experience?
