Nicol Bolas WIP

Custom WorkstationSorry I posted this in the figure gallery! I knew that was a rule just testing you guys. Thank heavens I was able to cut and paste the whole thing! The longest description I've ever wrote and it was gone!!
The WIP for the massive NICOL BOLAS!!! This was my biggest project and I hope it's one of the biggest the realm has ever seen! Started in mid January and finished about a month ago, just had a hard time getting pictures I liked. Had to paint two 4' by 2' canvases to get a big enough background.

So.... to start I cut 18 inch spidey to bits! Interesting findings in dissecting this guy. His waist, chest, shoulders, and head have joints that are screw based. Should have been useful but you can only go so tight and it wasn't enough for the weight of the arms in the end. All the places I extended the length, I'd put enough clay to hold the foil extentions I added, and arrange them to sit over night or for a few hours. Once dried a thin layer over those extentions so they don't bend while sculpting

I knew sculpting this guy all at once when he was put together would help ruin the joints! So I sculpted in segments and put it all together and sculpted the torso last, well the wings were last but you know what I mean!!!

For the legs I cut out the shins swivel and shortened that part of the leg (those swivels later became the tail). Cut the toes off spidey and extended that section of the leg with foil leading to the feet of the poor rancor that lost his life in the making of bolas. I wanted his feet for the ball swivel for the best movment. Later I used the rancor shoulder for the base neck joint which was extended with foil leading to the joint at the base of his skull. Nicol bolas's head is a fusion of giant man's head and a jurassic park mash-up head for the jaw.
For the tail I used the swivel after the rancor shoulder I harvested and the two swivels from the spidey legs, to give it three joints. One at Nicol's butt and two more further down the tail, concealed by the Rings that decorate this majestic dragon.

Now the wings were very intimidating to me. I used giant man's shoulders cause they were big and thought they'd pop right on and off, but had to do some trimming any ways. So extended his arms at the bicep and after the elbow joint added a heavy duty wire I got from home Depot with clay. Once that hardened added foil, with clay acting like glue, to thicken the wings. Than made two long foil snakes for each wing and attached those with clay and let harden. For the flaps I used an old sheet and mod podge, to make a permanent paper mache'. USE A BLANK SHEET!!!!!!! Or something without patterns that's why his wings have that ruffled chip look!! Once I put about twenty layers of podge on I sculpted the rest of the wings. Somthing I'm happy I did cause I'm going to be making a lot of wigs this way!
Hope you all enjoy this guy as much as I do and I'm sorry for any rambling above I'm not good at explaining things.
And thanks to everyone one the realm who has said such kind things to me over the last two years? I think that's how long? Floydscruffy, VicVienz, NeCrollector, and Windblock2007 especially I haven't nearly shown you guys as much love as you've shown me!! People like you truly breath the life into this site
