I have this pretty elaborate diorama/playset I'm constructing. It's design mostly follows the traditional in style of Kenner Star Wars playsets. When complete it'll stand around 4 1/2 feet tall so if possible, I'd like it to be rather lightweight. My plans also consist of LED lighting, small electronics, and possibly (but probably not) motorizations. The whole thing will ultimately be painted and whatnot.
The prototype I'm making is basic cardboard, and it looks pretty great for what I'm going for, but I'm trying to figure out other materials that would be good to use. I've seen people using the Pink insulation foam boards, cardstock, and other stuff but I'm wondering what cheap and sturdy materials you folks would suggest!
the plastic containers that random products come in. Exsamples can be see in my star wars postings... the walls have the packaging containers that sandwhich meat ( for my kids lunches) painted and glued to a foam core board.the blister packaging for batteries has a modern spaceshippy feel as well. you can also scavenge parts from old broken toys and rc cars. if there is a radio shack near you they always have weird electronic stuff that could be useful too.
Oh of course, and thanks for response! It's definitely comparable to the Deather Star like playset that exists. It's basically a standing space ship with multiple floors and an elevator.
