Help With Cutting Joints for Completed Sculpts

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hello!

I've recently been doing some research on the process of turning final sculpts into articulated action figures. Everything up to the final figure is understood--up until the actual part that involves articulating the figures. So I ask: what is the process of cutting joint spaces for the figures in each of their intended-to-be-articulated limbs, as well as the creation of said joints? I would be most thankful for any help given.

Thanks!

I've never done much research, even though I'm pretty interested in this stuff. I'm pretty sure nowadays they do all of that stuff on the computer.

Wish I knew, none of the sculptors I emailed over the years ever replied.

From what little I could find, traditional sculptors that work for toy companies sculpt on premade joints.

Doll makers often make their own joints though, you could try a doll forum.
